I'm not sure what was most shocking about last week's elimination. That Ben McKenzie was so brutally dismissed from Australian Idol or the fact that the bottom two included the other teen heart throb Matt Corby.

That was a nicer performance from Tarisai. Probably helps that I love Taylor Dayne but she just seems reserved to me. Mark thought it was a rousing opening and congratulates Marcia for picking a song that shows her earthy and sassy side. Dicko agrees but thinks there's 20% more in the tank and can't wait for it to go off. Marcia loved it but warns her not to over articulate. Kyle thought she had all the attitude but agrees that it wasn't at full throttle.

Marica's Song Choice: No Woman No Cry

Bob Marley is a legend. Marty Simpson is not. And as for Marcia's song choice? Not this time sorry. Dicko thought it was another great choice from Marcia but he was expecting a little more from him and thought it had all the zest of a dole queue. Marcia reaffirms him and says reggae is so laid back it's horizontal. Kyle thought it was excellent. Mark said it suited him but he should have made more of it and he's not interpretting songs properly.

Is anyone else getting sick of his excuses for doing crap performances?

This is a great song for Daniel. I really liked his performance of a Sting classic. Marcia thinks he looks sharp and thought he performed the song well and is glad he's not afraid of showing emotion when he sings. Kyle also thinks he looks sharp but thought it was boring. Mark believed it and did what Marty said he couldn't do - gave a heartfelt performance. Dicko prefers his heavier stuff but thought that had great intensity and great storytelling.

It's so good to have Dicko back. This is a great song choice and Carl is such the entertainer. It's not pop, but it's better than some of the performances on the Australian Idol stage. Got to love that trumpet too! Kyle says that from tonight, he's the frontrunner. The crowd begs Mark for a touchdown and gets one. Mark adds it's an amazing situation that it was for Dicko's song too. Dicko is a little disappointed there were no knickers on the stage. Marcia says it's all about entertainment and he smashed it. Kyle then tells Marcia to throw Carl her g-string - something none of us need to see!

Mark's Song Choice: Music of the Night

Certainly an interesting song choice. I guess we were all hoping for an Anthony Callea moment but unfortunately it doesn't happen. A little boring for me. Mark says thank you for taking up the challenge and that he's wildly impressed and gives him a touchdown. Dicko says that the kids in the audience will scream at what ever he did and thought it was an idiotic song choice and it shouldn't have shown up in his outfit too. Marcia says Mark is making a lot of sense because a lot of being an entertainer is about having versatility. Kyle enjoyed it but he's right in the middle of the others comments.

Marcia's Song Choice: Nothing Compares 2 U

I thought Natalie started off well but I'm drifting off now. Another dull and boring performance for me unfortunately. Dicko thought it was the perfect song for her and he believed every single word of it. Marcia said she was feeling her as well. Kyle said he would have liked to have seen a tear and talks about about the uncanny lyrics being exact to when she broke up. Kyle then tells her to talk to wardrobe about her dress because TV is making her ass look bigger than it actually is. Mark says Marcia is on fire tonight and is happy to finally be seeing her in her performances. James gets in a final word by suggesting we all switch to Widescreen HD so we can fit Kyle's ass on the screen.

There goes that affected voice again. Those silly accented words really bug me. She has a good voice so I wish she'd just sing straight. Marcia says she can't question her singing but she was still waiting for that other 20%. Kyle has no issue with the voice and thinks she is a superstar but is wondering what is going on with wardrobe tonight. Mark was left wanting more, more, more despite it being a fantastic vocal performances. Dicko didn't believe her and agrees with Kyle about her dress.

Own Song Choice: Last Kiss

I'm beginning to wonder if Marty is deliberately trying to make me cringe. Hated the song. Hated the performance of it even more. Kyle was digging him more and more. Mark wants to know if he was singing it to anyone as it was in the pocket. Dicko thought the last minute after-thought gave it some resonance. Marcia is so happy to see him happy.

There is something about Daniel that is growing on me. Not the best performance he's given on Australian Idol but he seems to be coming out from the middle of the pack. Mark thought his intentions were right in picking the song but he didn't quite have the chops. Dicko thought he was off the pace and needs to choose a bit better. Marcia thought his aggression in the song was great. Kyle thought his performance was good but the vocal was dodge.

Carl is having a few issues with his vocal in parts of the start of this song which is unlike his normal smooth voice. He really is reminding me more and more of Harry Connick Jr. Dicko thinks he's really beginning to motor at the right time in the competition and is quickly becoming the housewives choice. Marcia is so happy to see how much he's become. Kyle says he's the standout tonight. Mark acknowledges that he's listened and has gotten better and better with humility.

A much better second song from Matt tonight. It would be nice to see him rock it out some again though. Marcia thought he did a great job with something left of centre with a moody and dark version. Kyle thinks he could sing words from the book of satan and he'd love it. Mark loves how he can play and sing and how incredible it is to see such a wide range of talents from someone so young. Dicko thought that was sublime compared to his first song tonight.

Own Song Choice: Umbrella

This is a brave move picking such a popular song but I think it's paying off. It has enough uniqueness about it that it works. I actually quite like what she's done with it. Kyle thought it was lovely and that was the best she's ever looked and loved her version. Mark thinks she looks beautiful on camera and thought there was something magical about that performance and gives her a touchdown. Dicko thought she should always head towards pop and turn left and thought that was perfect. Marcia thought she took a real chance and did her own version which paid off. James says she's really put the "ouch" back into Gauci!

Poor Rove is running behind schedule since Idol has run at least 15 minutes overtime.

My bottom three for the night? Natalie Gauci, Marty Simpson and Tarisai Vushe. Can we get rid of Marty now, please?
