There's a whole new format for the Australian Idol verdict shows for 2008.

The bottom three will be announced, they will then perform and then the voting lines will be opened again for a last chance attempt at keeping your favourite in the competition.

In the bottom three is, Jonny Taylor, Sophie Paterson and Teale Jakubenko.

That bottom three doesn't actually surprise me at all. I don't fancy Teale's chances after all the plugging Jonny and Sophie have had from the judges.

Jonny Taylor Performs Pearl Jam - Better Man Better Man again and he's still the most boring rock performer ever.

Sophie Paterson works up another nasally rendition of Counting Crows - August and Everything After - Mr. Jones Mr Jones.

Teale Jakubenko swoons through Rick Price - Heaven Knows - Walk Away Renee Walk Away Renee and is the best vocally of the three up for elimination.

The voting lines are open.

On a side note, Chrislyn Hamilton's performance was voted as the performance of the night as well.

American Idol 2007 winner Jordin Sparks performs her world wide hit Jordin Sparks & Chris Brown - Jordin Sparks (Deluxe Version) - No Air No Air.

The first result is in and Sophie Paterson is safe.

The first person leaving Australian Idol in 2008 is Jonny Taylor. No real surprises there. The boredom factor has seen Jonny kicked out.

Jonny sings one last time before he leaves and makes a half decent effort with Creedence Clearwater Revival - Chronicle - The 20 Greatest Hits - I Heard It Through the Grapevine I Heard it Through the Grapevine. Why hadn't he sung like that before?!

Next week, Cindi Lauper will be here for The Eighties!
