We all know that after the much heralded success of the Australian version of The Biggest Loser in 2007, the producers of Australian Idol thought it would be a clever idea to try and align the formats by putting Idol on every night of the week.

While reducing the agonising weeks of auditions to the point where the Top 24 are announced in the span of a week has been a much welcomed change but this year has seen even closer meldings of the two formats with the introduction of plus sized people. (Or as everyone at home says in the comforts of their own homes: fat people.)

When you take a look at Chrislyn Hamilton, Brooke Schubert and Natalie Colavito, don't any alarm bells start ringing with the words "Casey Donovan"? Sure. They might be able to sing, but didn't SonyBMG drop her like she was, er, hot? If this competition is all about getting a record deal, wouldn't the smartest thing be to keep the label happy? Especially if you want them to keep taking on board your winners.

Don't get me wrong. There's nothing wrong with a little plump but I'm struggling to think of one current pop star who looks remotely like any of them. Even Jaden Dowd for that matter. What was she thinking wearing that one-piece last night?! I just don't see any of them opening for someone like Ricki-Lee so I'm quite confused as to what the judges were thinking when they put them through to the Top 24. I'm going to put it down to some subliminal mix-up in thinking they were casting for Ten's other reality show.
