Stosur and Tomic ignite tennis ratings on 7TWO

7TWO Brisbane International ratings up a magic 29% on last year

First round wins to reigning US Open title holder Sam Stosur and Wimbledon quarter finalist Bernard Tomic have ignited ratings on 7TWO.

The national audience peaked at 461,000 last night as they watched Sam Stosur win in straight sets with an average audience of 268,000.

During the day session it was a similar story with Aussie Bernard Tomic also winning as the national audience peaked at 385,000 viewers. The average national audience grabbed 191,000 viewers, up 29% on the same day session last year.

Saul Shtein, Head of Sport commented: “The popularity of tennis on 7TWO continues to grow and exceed our expectations. After record ratings at Wimbledon, we’ve now seen a massive leap for the Brisbane International from last year. Nothing beats live sport on television, and there’s plenty more to come with Aussies Stosur and Tomic.”

7TWO’s coverage continues today and tonight from 8pm with Andy Murray taking to the court as well as a top-line women’s match between former World No. 1 Ana Ivanovic and reigning Australian Open Kim Clijsters. Hosted by Hamish McLachlan with special comments from a team including Todd Woodbridge, John Fitzgerald, Sam Smith and Rennae Stubbs.

Pamela shares her secret for cooking duck, ensuring the crispiest skin, which has been developed through trial and error in the Test Kitchen. This salad is a taste sensation; combining crispy duck, plum sauce, with the sharpness of peppery watercress and the sweetness of mango.

Elle Vernon checks out the latest news from the fruit and veggie markets- tomatoes, including cherry tomatoes are particularly good this spring/summer. Mangoes are so good this season; wholesalers are calling it ‘mango madness’. Meaning plentiful, juicy and prices will continue to fall.

This week’s Celebrity cook is Better Homes and Gardens’ Tara Dennis, with her favourite recipe, Lemon Syrup Cake. Tara stumbled across the recipe while visiting a country caf� and after eating the cake, begged the owner for the recipe. The cake is super-moist, absorbing over a cup of syrup after it is baked.

Glenn Wheeler road tests kitchen gadgets to help separate the good from the bad. This week he puts Graters through their paces. He trials a few varieties, before both Damien and Glenn experiment with onion grating and how to avoid the tears.

Martin soon learns he needs all the allies he can get as he negotiates his way around village life, with hilarious consequences.

In tonight’s episode: A stomach bug hits Portwenn and Martin suspects the village’s water supply could be contaminated, but the locals don’t agree.

Martin soon learns he needs all the allies he can get as he negotiates his way around village life, with hilarious consequences.

In tonight’s premiere episode: Doctor Martin Ellingham (Martin Clunes) has been forced to give up his career as an eminent surgeon, and retrain as a GP, after developing a phobia to blood. A vacancy arises in the Cornish hamlet of Portwenn following the death of the local GP. Martin has fond memories of the little fishing port where he spent happy childhood holidays with his Aunt Joan.

On the train journey to Cornwall for an interview for the post, Martin takes a close interest in a woman sharing his carriage. His intense scrutiny unsettles the woman and she moves to a seat in another carriage.

When he arrives to be interviewed, he finds the woman is schoolteacher Louisa Glasson, the lay member of the interviewing panel. Louisa is particularly tough in her questioning of Martin. As Martin leaves the interview Louisa challenges him about why he had been staring at her on the train. He curtly advises Louisa to see an eye specialist as he has detected acute glaucoma.
