Press Release. Network Ten announces its highly-anticipated movie event Underground – The Julian Assange Story will premiere on Sunday, October 7, at 8.30pm – the very date I predicted after viewing the preview 9 days ago (see here and look at comments). Continue reading »

Not to be outdone by Ten (not that it would matter) Nine are also fast tracking a number of titles to the week starting September 30. Promos have begun with dates like “Tuesday Week” for new The Big Bang Theory, 2 Broke Girls and Two and a Half Men. Also promised soon is The Mentalist and Survivor Philippines – both yet to be scheduled. AFP returns on Thursday Oct 4. There are still empty gaps in Nine’s line up though. Continue reading »

This week sees Ten start to fast track its US content is a bid to bring back viewers – take a fresh look at Ten. new NCIS moves back to Tuesday nights, coupled with NCIS: LA – the way it should be. A little bit of magic from Cosentino helps Seven win another night as The Grand Illusionist is the most watched show for Wednesday night. Criminal Minds also did well, just below a million while Ten’s Puberty Blues was just below 700,000. Ten still languished in fourth place.

Ten have launched a new promotion, asking viewers to take a “fresh look at Ten”. The network promises new content including Underground: The Julian Assange Story, new US series The New Normal and Ben and Kate as well as Vegas.

New seasons fast tracked to Ten in October include: Homeland, New Girl, The Good Wife, Glee, Modern Family, Merlin, Hawaii Five-O, NCIS, NCIS: LA and Law & Order: SVU.

Fast tracking international series to Ten has been suggested by many – including myself – as a way the network could bounce back out of its current less than favourable ratings lows.

Details of when some of these programs will air will be released on Sunday (subject to embargo), with others to follow over the next week or so.

Expect to see more of this campaign over coming weeks.

And – yes – give Ten a fresh look!

Nine aired just 4 episodes of the 10 part first season of 2012′s Dallas over three weeks. Ratings fell too low to justisfy the show’s timeslot on Nine so the Dallas dropped out of the schedule. Continue reading »

The problem of getting into a show that only a handful of people watch is it becomes very likely that the network airing the show will reschedule or dump in reaction to low ratings. Continue reading »

Seven again dominates, thanks to the first X Factor elimination for 2012 being watched by over 1.5 million and Winners & Losers pulling over a million subsequent. Big Brother keeps its head just above a million but then its all down hill for Nine from there. Ten again falls below ABC1 in primary shares.
