Last night AUSTRALIA’S NEXT TOP MODEL broke more ground by smashing its previous ratings record as Perth schoolgirl Tahnee Atkinson received top honours live on FOX8.

A massive 680,000 subscribers tuned into the Sarah Murdoch hosted series finale last night, which was screened live at 7.30pm and attracted an average audience of 342,000* viewers.

The huge figures have broken the record set last series and given FOX8 its highest audience ever.

According to OzTAM results, last night’s massive numbers mean AUSTRALIA’S NEXT TOP MODEL continues its reign as the highest rating television series ever on subscription television.

Overall, the combined average audience for this fifth series, produced by Granada Productions, was up nine per cent on the top-rating fourth series in 2008.

Last night’s blockbuster finale live from Sydney’s Luna Park was up 11 per cent on last year’s corresponding episode, which saw Demelza Reveley walk away with the coveted title.

FOXTEL’s Executive Director of Television and Marketing, Brian Walsh, said: “Australia’s Next Top Model has cemented itself as the flagship program for subscription television and there is no stopping this ratings juggernaut. Once again the series has continued to build and grow and last night’s finale was an incredible success.

“Our brilliant host, Sarah Murdoch, coupled with the stellar ensemble group of Charlotte Dawson, Alex Perry, Jonathan Pease as well as the models have taken the series to a new level of entertainment and we are proud to bring this top-rating show to our subscribers.”

An encore of last night’s finale will screen on FOX8 today from 1.15pm and on Sunday, July 12, at 4.30pm.

On Tuesday, July 7, at the special time of 9.00pm (following the ANTM S5 finale)

Joss Whedon, creator of the groundbreaking cult favourites, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Firefly, returns to television and reunites with fellow Buffy alumna, Eliza Dushku, for a thrilling new drama, Dollhouse.

Echo (Dushku) is an “Active,” a member of a highly illegal and underground group of individuals who have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas. Hired by the wealthy, powerful and connected, the Actives don’t just perform their hired roles, they wholly become – with mind, personality and physiology – whomever the client wants or needs them to be. Whether imprinted to be a lover, an assassin, a corporate negotiator or a best friend, the Actives know no other life than the specific engagements they are in at that time. Confined between missions to a secret facility known as the “Dollhouse“, Echo and the other Actives including Sierra (Dichen Lachman), are assigned engagements by Adelle Dewitt (Olivia Williams), one of the Dollhouse leaders. After each scenario, Echo, always under the watchful eye of her handler, Boyd Langton (Harry Lennix), returns to the mysterious Dollhouse where her thoughts, feelings, experiences and knowledge are erased by Topher Brink (Fran Kranz), the Dollhouse’s genius programmer.

As the series progresses, FBI Agent Paul Ballard (Tahmoh Penikett) pieces together clues with the help of Russian informant, Lubov (Enver Gjokaj), that lead him closer to the Dollhouse. Echo stops forgetting as her memories begin to return, and she slowly pieces together her mysterious past.
