This week on CITY HOMICIDE: Josh Waverley’s missing. Never made it to soccer. Is he just off with mates, or is an unknown player making their final move? Bernice Waverley is about to be held accountable for her past. It will change her forever.

Stanley: You need to hear what she has to say. I think she may have good reason to be fearful for her son’s safety.

A psychiatrist is stabbed to death at his practice. Who did it? A colleague, a patient, or was it a random act? Getting hard evidence against a likely suspect is proving tough for Simon and Matt.

But their case will take a backseat as Stanley and Jarvis rally everyone to help with the hunt for Josh.

Today the final pieces of a well thought out plan fall into place. Bernice Waverley will be held accountable for her past actions, and it will change her forever.

This week on TRIPLE ZERO HEROES, as water levels rise during a flood, a man races to help his girlfriend only to find himself trapped in his car and a elderly woman spends hours in the cold after falling down a embankment.

At 1.30am, 50 year old Gary Rothschild gets a call from his distressed girlfriend in Lower Templestowe. Her house is flooding and she needs help. Gary rushes to her aide but on the way he gets trapped in the floods. His car fills with water and he makes an emergency call to triple zero.

62 yr old Elizabeth Kinneir-Tarte fell down an embankment, on a property in a remote part of NSW. She spent two hours dragging herself along the ground to her property to call triple zero. Suffering from a fractured femur cold, in hypothermic shock, severe pain and in desperate need of help Elizabeth speaks to the triple zero call taker several times while she waits for her. The triple zero operator organises for a neighbour to come and take care of her while she waits for the ambulance. With her property accessible only by 4WD, Elizabeth must wait for over an hour until the paramedics arrive.

TRIPLE ZERO HEROES tells not only the rescuers’ stories, but the stories of the people they rescue, using original emergency calls, reconstructions and interviews.

This week on MERCURIO’S MENU, beer braised spatchcock, crouton of quail, wild mushroom pate and avocado panna cotta are all on the menu as Paul ventures to the Hunter Valley to reveal there’s a lot more to this beautiful area than magnificent wines.

One local landmark is the Port Stephens Avocado Stall. City folk, Robyn and Henry Willner saw a For Sale sign at this place a few years ago. Having never even seen an avocado tree before, they dropped in to see what the farm was about and as they say, the rest is history. Paul drops in right on peak harvest season, and is roped into lending a hand.

Next it’s off to a farm called Cornucopia but once Paul arrives he sees it’s more like Utopia for this truly free range poultry. Apart from the happiest chooks you’ll ever come across, they’ve got a few other friends to keep company including a 1600 kilo bull named after the Roman Gladiator – Spartacus!

Paul grabs some Cornucopia Spatchcock and goose eggs and heads off to Sandalynn Estate. Each weekend, Hunter Pasta Master – Norman Top runs a three hour Tuscan style cooking class teaching the traditional art of pasta making. Learning the art of pasta making from scratch, Paul tries adding Goose eggs to great success.

Ian and Jenny Morphy are pioneers of the food business in the Hunter. They’ve run The Old George and Dragon here in Maitland for close to 25 years using only the freshest of local produce, with the menu changing daily. There’s no one more experienced than Ian and Jenny to help Paul put on a lunch for everyone he’s visited.
