It was a big night for Television in Melbourne as the stars came out in force at the Crown Entertainment Complex for the 50th Annual TV Week Logie Awards.

Home and Away's Kate Ritchie took home the Gold Logie as well as a Silver Logie for Most Popular Acress along with Summer Heights High actor Chris Lilley for Most Popular Actor and Rove for Most Popular TV Presenter.

Seven came out on top with 9 while the ABC walked away with 7. Nine and Ten both took away 2 while SBS, TV1 and Showcase also took home a logie each.

MTV Networks Australia today announces Aussie pop/rock princesses, The Veronicas, who will take to the stage to announce internationally acclaimed music mogul, Timbaland, as the first ever recipient of the ‘International Music Artist Of The Year’. And in response to overwhelming demand, the network also announces the release of a limited number of tickets to the MTV Australia Awards on sale now through Ticketek, giving fans the chance to witness history in the making as well as party alongside their favourite celebs. The MTV Australia Awards 2008 will broadcast on MTV, Saturday April 26 from 7:30pm with an encore screening on FOX8 Sunday April 27 from 6pm and Saturday May 3 from 7:30pm.

MTV Networks Australia today announced Hollywood party girl Kim Kardashian to join the star studded list of presenters at the MTV Australia Awards 2008 on April 26. Kim will head to Australia with her sister, Khloe, to attend the MTV Australia Awards and they will also sit front row at the glamorous premiere of Australian Label Ruth Tarvydas’ new collection on Monday 28th April @ 7pm at RAFW. Ruth Tarvydas is well known for creating edgy, sexy, high quality pieces that are exciting and ahead of the curve.

The gorgeous stars of E!’s hit reality series, ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’, are sure to give viewers a taste of the ‘LA socialite lifestyle’. In what will be a whirlwind 48 hours for the rapper, Dizzee will touch down in Australia after being the star performer on the MTV NZ Mile High Gig. Rockin’ the skies at 37,000 feet, the gig of a lifetime will leave Auckland for Sydney on Friday April 25 and will see Dizzee perform alongside New Zealand’s hottest performer, Scribe. The award show’s list of celebrity presenters will now also include fellow, New Zealand Mile High Gig performer Scribe.

The MTV Australia Awards 2008 will broadcast on MTV Saturday April 26 from 7:30pm with an encore screenings on FOX8 Sunday April 27 from 6pm and Saturday May 3 from 7:30pm.

Ian Thorpe will take to the stage to present the nine-time world champion surfer with the award to a live audience at the MTV Australia Awards 2008, Saturday April 26 from 7:30pm with an encore screening on FOX8 Sunday April 27 from 6pm and Saturday May 3 from 7:30pm.

MTV Networks Australia today announced the NOVA 96.9 breakfast duo, Merrick Watts and Tim Rosso as the hosts of the celebrity filled Red Carpet Show. The comedic duo will team up with MTV VJs Darren McMullen, Maz Compton and Ruby Rose to entertain the crowd and viewers as they ask the tough, funny and down right inappropriate questions along the famous MTV Australia Awards 2008 Red Carpet. Also joining the growing list of presenters is Rogue Traders’ Natalie Bassingthwaighte and James Ash as well as political pranksters and nominees for this year’s ‘Television Moment Award’ Andrew Hansen and Julian Morrow from the ABC’s The Chasers War On Everything. ABC TV WITHDRAWS ITS SUPPORT FROM AFI AWARD CEREMONIES

The Australian Film Institute has instigated some major changes to the broadcast of its annual awards to be held in December, which ABC TV feels shows a lack of respect for the television nominees, and seriously diminishes the role television plays in the ceremony.

ABC TV has today withdrawn its support for the awards, and as a result, the network will not be attending either The AFI Industry Awards (December 5) or the on-air AFI Awards Dinner ceremony (December 6) or funding the attendance by any nominees.

ABC’s Director of Television Kim Dalton said “We have not taken this decision lightly. The AFI has removed a number of major television awards from the broadcast night. Some categories remain part of the Award Dinner, while others have been moved to the Industry Awards, effectively splitting up some program teams.

The 2007 ARIA Awards is set to be the best yet, with Australian music's biggest and brightest stars stepping out for the industries night of nights. Aussie music's depth of talent will be on display with well known icons including Silverchair, Powderfinger, John Butler Trio, Missy Higgins and Sneaky Sound System.

Aria Awards favourite ROVE McMANUS makes a welcome return to the stage as host of this year’s event, while Australian Idols JAMES MATHISON is back, as are funny men HAMISH and ANDY. More information to be announced soon!

The Golden Logie awards are coming up in Australia - Kate Ritchie, John Wood, and Rove McManus are the favourites for Australia's favourite TV stars at the annual awards ceremony. The Logie awards are the people's choice awards for Australian TV, and the winner last year was John Wood.

Special Tribute to the Game’s Greats Monday, February 5 at 9.30pm

Cricket’s night of nights, THE ALLAN BORDER MEDAL, will celebrate a memorable summer highlighted by Australia’s extraordinary success in regaining the Ashes 5-0 and farewell four of the game’s greats: Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath, Justin Langer and Damien Martyn.

Hosted by Mark Nicholas with Richie Benaud, Mark Taylor, Ian Healy, Michael Slater and Ian Chappell, THE ALLAN BORDER MEDAL, now in its eighth year, will be televised from Melbourne’s Crown Palladium on Monday, February 5 at 9.30pm on Channel Nine.

THE ALLAN BORDER MEDAL is awarded to Australia’s best cricketer of the past 12 months. Can Ricky Ponting claim his third medal? Will Michael Hussey continue his rapid rise to stardom after collecting last year’s One-Day Player of the Year award and finishing runner-up to Ponting in the Allan Border Medal? Or could Shane Warne farewell the game by collecting his first Allan Border Medal?

Obviously Stephen Mayne (Crikey.com.au) has upset Glenn Milne (Sunday Telegraph) a few times for him to interrupt his presenting of an award at the Walkley's and shove him off stage.
