BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS
Season 13, Episode 12
Friday May 4
7:30pm (G)
In tonight’s episode of BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS, from trash to flash - Tara shows how to furnish your home for free, while Joh and Rob team up to build a DIY skateboard ramp that will keep the kids amused and active for hours on end, safely.
Plus, Fast Ed's two minute Caramel Slice; create a stunning Checkerboard Garden of succulents; Dr Harry meets a dog that goes barking mad at leaf blowers; Graham visits the amazing Eden Project botanical garden in Cornwall; how to Autumn clean your indoor plants; Karen’s spiced barramundi; and why Guinea Pigs could be your perfect pet.

I have made this slice twice. It tastes gorgeous but if you follow the directions it won't work out - caramel runs everywhere. You really need to cook it for much longer OR heat the condensed milk on the stove top (keep stirring) until it thickens. Well worth the effort for the taste :0)

While it sounds good to see a 2 minute recipe for a slice which normally takes three stages and time to make, I doubt it could taste as good. You cant beat the original with shredded coconut in the biscuit base.

Hi Meagan,
I would like to know how your two min caramel slice recipe went? I would like to make it but it seems that there were too many failures.
Is it worth making or not?
Please let me know

I have tried the 2 minute caramel slice twice and both have failed. Not Happy and will be sending an email ro BHG as the middle just runs out and it is a waist of money making it as you just throw it away.

I'm pretty sure he said 2 tablespoons melted butter. Even though did the chef thing and just poured some in from a larger quantity in a bowl.
I've got a batch in the fridge now - waiting for centre to set before chocolating it.
My crumbs perhaps weren't fine enough (I did by hand not food processor) and I didn't really pat it down, some started to float up during cooking and bubbles also - the one on tv looked really smooth on top. I have been a bit worried it wont set - but will eat with spoon if all else fails!

Fast Ed's 2-min caramel slice recipe
YOU NEED
1/2 pk Ginger Nut biscuits
1/4 pk Scotch Finger biscuits
3 cans of condenced milk
dark cooking choc (fast ed also said you could use white choc)
HOW TO
Add Ginger Nut biscuits, Scotch Finger biscuits- add to blender till crumbs
Line deep pan with cooking paper (IMPORTANT!!)
Pat biscuit crumbs in pan and pour condenced milk over the top.
Cook in oven for 30 mins 180c
After oven place in fridge till condenced milk is set.
Melt Choc & pour on top of condenced milk than place back in fridge.
Wait till it sets.
With a !!HOT!! knife cut slice up...
I hope this helps...
The only thing i didn't grab was the amount of choc needed.... but it was approx (depending on pan size) 5mm thick.
I will be cooking this, this afternoon...
YUM-O Can't wait....
Enjoy
