It's a very British looking set at the launch of Big brother 08.

The housemates have been in lockdown for the last week with no contact with the outside world.

Jackie O and Kyle Sandilands give us the intro to the season before Jackie O takes on a tour of the backyard.

It's a holiday theme inside the yard with a giant rope tree and a swing as well as a Kombi van. This year there is also a fake animal farm.

There is a Momento cabinet which the housemates must place 1 cherished item into before they enter the house.

The first housemate to enter the house is the oldest housemate they've ever had on the show. Terri. She has a doll which her father gave her when she was 16.

The next housemate to enter the house is a real space cadet who has belief in all sorts of conspiracy theories. Saxon has a gold necklace which he puts in the momento cabinet.

They cross live to the house where Terri enters and heads straight to the kitchen. Kyle reckons she's acting like a nana already.

They then announce that by the end of the night, one of the housemates will be bounced!

Jackie O is with Saxon as he enters the Big Brother house. Terri greets Saxon and they compared muscles.

Jackie gives us a tour of the house. It's a pretty cool house. The dining room has a conveyor belt down the middle of the table. Get your food quickly or it will end on the floor. The bedroom has one giant bed with two long pillows so the housemates will be sleeping toe to toe. The bathroom has lockers for all the housemates but they have a false back so Big Brother can steal their clothes.

The next housemate is the youngest - 18 year old Bianca who is a big breasted, self confessed bitch. Her momento is her dogs collar. When she enters the house, Saxon calms himself and tells himself to take deep breaths.

The Karate Kid, Nobuyuki (Nobbi), is a boxer, poker player and musician. He has a daily facial routine and thinks it won't be long and he'll be stealing the girls products. He has a towel with him. He's a little worried about being in a house full of bitchy girls and hopes there are some buys to knock around with.

Nobbi enters the house and greets Saxon, Terri and Bianca.

This years blonde is Brigitte. She's a true blonde. She's not sure about romance in the house and has been given strict instructions from her father about no kissing boys and bathroom etiquette.

There is going to be no entering the house tonight so they'll be staying in the backyard overnight.

Doctor Alice is a vetinarian. She is single and says never say never. She has a necklace for the momento cabinet.

Marketing co-ordinator and very upbeat personality with a strangely annoying voice is Travis. He assures everyone he's not gay. He has a book - the bible. He's also scared of the dark.

There are some empty seats in the audience.

Travis and Alice enter the house.

Rory is a Brickie. He wants to make coin early and then retire early. He wants a hot wife and a hot mistress.

He enters the house and tells everyone outright that he'll forget their names.

Pocket Rocket Renee has been decribed as a chihuahua on speed. She's a rugby playing chick. She doesn't like cheaters, lying or princess type girls who take too long to get ready. She too has a blanket.

Renee enters the backyeard which is starting to get a little crowded.

Rima is a feisty belly dancer - and a dwarf. She is only a metre tall. She admits she has a potty mouth. Her husband Carl comes out to say goodbye. Rima is the only married housemate in Big Brother '08. She's bought her belly dancing outfit.

Rima arrives and the house greets her with wild excitement. Terri talks to Rima about the toilet and how it might be too high for her so they may need to get her a step.

Looking for a woman with a certain amount of depth is housemate #11, the academic Ben. He has a photo of himself and his dog as his momento.

Housemate number 12 is Dixie. She is aboriginal and a patriotic Australian who cries when she hears the national anthem. She is a mental health worker. Dixie is about to learn that she's going into the house with someone else from her small town - Renee. She enters the house and Renee is excited to see her. She left a red and white "Where's Wally" style beanie.

She's a Personal Trainer and a lingerie barmaid. Rebecca is housemate number 13. She has a monkey that her sister had given her. She puts her monkey on the momento cabinet.

The final housemate is David, a divorced after 2 years escapee from a religious sect. Kyle tells him that when he hears a booming voice from the heavens, it wont be God, it will be Big Brother. His momento is his Canberra Raiders jersey.

Rebecca and David enter the house as the final housemates.

Inside the house, Big Brother welcomes everyone to the house. He tells them that in life you can't always plan for surprises. He tells them that at dawn there will be an eviction. It is not a twist. The house needs to bring Big Brother an evictee before they will be allowed in the house. Big Brother also says that this wont be the last snap eviction.
