Few parties get bigger than the New Year’s Eve dance party at Bondi as over 5,000 revellers dance in the New Year until 6 am. The Lifeguards are flat out on New Years Day as they attend drug and alcohol affected partygoers on the beach. An ecstacy overdose and a surfer’s severely dislocated shoulder are among the most serious cases. To make matters worse Bondi experiences one of the hottest days on record as the thermometer hovers above 45 degrees and everyone wilts in the heat.

The lifeguards have an opportunity to show what they’re made of in the Lifeguard Challenge – a mid-season competition to prove who’s the fittest and fastest among the elite watermen. Tensions run deep between old-hand Corey and young Turk Reidy as they go head-to-head in the water. Surprisingly, for such a handsome group of men, many of the lifeguards are single. They all decide to head off to a speed dating session to try their luck - with hilarious results. Meanwhile doctors discover what really happened to Takahiro Ono suffered a heart attack in the water and didn’t drown as some suspected.

Bondi is a circus and some of the high-wire acts performed by the locals defy description. Two young boys are swept from treacherous “flat rock” leaving them with a bloody momento of scrapes and cuts on their backsides – but while the fun’s gone out of the circus at least they’re still alive. Equally lucky is Erin, a female surfer who wipes-out on the sand and fears she’s broken her back.

Japanese language student Takahiro Ono is found lifeless in the water on a surprisingly calm day. With no breath and no pulse a frantic resuscitation effort begins as lifeguards come to his rescue. Finally a defibrillator shocks him back to life. Ten minutes after the incident Taka is fully conscious. But no one yet knows what caused the emergency in the first place. On Australia Day the crowds come to celebrate on the sand, but one group of revellers find themselves drifting towards New Zealand on blow-up animals.

There’s a big swell heading for Bondi and the fearsome rips will be working overtime. But what’s dangerous for mere mortals is a playground for the elite watermen as they take to the water on their rescue boards at the start of the day. A morning of fun turns out to be the busiest day of summer with thirty-five rescues conducted in a frantic five-minute period. If the big swell isn’t dangerous enough the wind has washed in thousands of bluebottles.

As summer draws to a close, Victorian Lifeguard Matt Dee reflects he has not done one rescue this season. It¹s a remarkable feat given Deano has done 87 rescues. Matt suspects he may have super hero powers that make swimmers safe whenever he is on patrol. It looks like he is going to break his luck and is called down to do a rescue.

As usual, as soon as he arrives the swimmer miraculously finds his feet and is safe. A surfer is dumped by a wave and is in severe pain. Whippet goes out to rescue her and brings her back to shore in great pain. She was surfing with her boyfriend who arrived from England that morning. A broken rib means she will spend their two week surfing holiday on dry land.

THIS VERY SPECIAL EPISODE WILL SEE THE LIFEGUARDS TAKE ON THE ROLES OF DETECTIVES IN A CLASSIC CASE OF 'WHODUNNIT' ON OUR VERY OWN BONDI BEACH.

Off duty lifeguard Ben Sutherland is training at Bondi's north end when he spots a shark in the water. The water is cleared and a search mounted but no shark is spotted.

Days later a man and his girlfriend come to the tower that he had been bitten by a shark the previous night at 8.30pm and woke up this morning at 10am.

He changes one detail of his story when pressed by the ambulance officer.

After he's taken to hospital, lifeguards debate whether they believe his story or not. Senior lifeguards Bobby and Hoppo both do. Younger lifeguard Chappo is dubious.

Chappo and Maxi investigate the south end cave (where the victim Scott and his girlfriend Kelly claimed to have slept the night before) and retrieve Scott and Kelly's belongings. Even though Scott said he was bleeding profusely, they don't find any blood.

Tonight, one of your favourite Lifeguards announces they are leaving.
In tonight's instalment of Bondi Rescue, the lifeguards discuss the do’s and don'ts on Bondi
Beach - smoking, littering, ball games, wearing undies and chatting up girls are the issues discussed.
Three men from Liverpool in Sydney's west are caught in a rip. Chappo goes out to rescue the
relieved men. Corey goes out to provide back up and jokes with the men about their haircuts.
A woman comes to the tower to report all her stuff has been stolen off the beach. She met a man
on the bus travelling to Bondi and they sat together on the beach. After she came back from a
swim, the man was missing, as were all of her belongings.
And in a shock announcement, Blake, the rookie from Penrith tells the team he will miss the next
two seasons on the beach as a he answers the calling from his church to travel to the Philippines

In tonight's exciting instalment of Bondi Rescue, after going for a swim, a man collapses at the
bottom of the lifeguard's tower. Lifeguards carry him up the stairs and put him on the bed. He
stops breathing. The Bondi Lifeguards revive him and he is taken to hospital with a mystery illness.
The Lifeguards later learn, the man is allergic to cold water.
Later in the episode, the Lifeguards are called to the north end of the beach where a man has
dislocated his shoulder. The man asks Deano to help him put his arm back in. Deano refuses and
advises the man to seek medical attention. Rejecting Deano's advice, the man puts his shoulder
back into place by lying on a table and getting his friend to lift his arm.
An Irish couple approach lifeguards to report their friend missing. He has been drinking all day
and gone for a swim. They haven't seen him for two hours. Hoppo is immediately concerned for

In this week's episode of Bondi Rescue, Chappo goes out
to get some last minute Coolite (foam surf board) training
in readiness for the inter-council lifeguard challenge.
Meanwhile Terry reminisces about the 70s when there
was no hole in the ozone layer and he and his mates
would surf on Coolites before going to a Hush concert.
Lifeguards are pushed to their limit when they are faced
with three suspected spinal injuries within an hour. The
first is a very distressed 11 year old English boy who's
been dumped in the surf. As lifeguards treat him by
putting a collar around his neck and putting him on a
spinal board, the boy's father is still in the surf unaware
his son is hurt.
The second spinal injury is a local surfer who's been hit
by his mate's board. The third is an Irish man living in
Bondi who reckons he just needs a bag of ice. Deano disagrees
and warns him lifeguards treat all injuries to the
