When Michael's (Jeffrey Donovan) brother Nate (Seth Peterson) discovers he is a covert operative he asks Michael for help. He sets up a meeting at an airport hangar but when Michael arrives he finds Nate beaten to a pulp. Nate explains that he was helping a friend, and got in over his head. Worried that Nate will get himself killed, Michael agrees to help him.

Later, while working on the car his late father left him, Michael and Fiona (Gabrielle Anwar) find a bug hidden under the steering column. Fiona points the finger at Sam (Bruce Campbell). Michael knows that Sam works with the Feds, reporting what Michael is up to, but they have a deal: Sam only tells them what Michael wants them to know. He isn’t sure who planted the bug, but he leaves it in place so as not to arouse suspicion.

Michael meets with Nate’s friend Jake (Scott Michael Campbell), who works as a security supervisor at the airport. Jake is having trouble with the Zamars, a family in the import/export business. He was told to change a flight log, omitting a specific flight, which is illegal. He’s made some minor changes to the log before, but this was too much. He refused, and they threatened his family. Sam and Fiona each do some reconnaissance, and quickly deduce that the Zamars are arms dealers. To help Jake, Michael poses as an arms dealer, complete with his own set of C-4 explosives and makes contact with the youngest and dumbest member of the Zamar clan: Ari. Michael strikes a deal with Ari to sell him the C-4, as well as some machine guns.

While on a stakeout, Sam comes clean about the bug in Michael’s car. He tells him that the Feds are forcing his hand, even threatening his pension if he doesn’t get them better intelligence on Michael. He purposefully placed the bug in an obvious spot so that Michael would find it. In the end Michael decides that giving the Feds more information may help him out, and alerts Sam to some additional intelligence he came across regarding his burn notice.

Michael’s deal with Ari has fallen into place, and he is about to gain access to the Zamars’ secret weapons caché. He is blindfolded and taken to a warehouse, and finds out about their entire operation. He then sends Jake to Ari’s father to complain that he was visited by a man who says he is working with the Zamars. The alleged man made demands, saying that he owns Jake. Ari’s father is furious that an outsider has been brought in without his approval. They rush to their warehouse only to find it emptied of all weapons. Sam followed Michael and Ari the previous evening, and cleaned out the place. Worried that their operation has been compromised, the Zamars leave town. Michael tells Jake that he and his family are safe so long as the Zamars continue to believe that he’s under another dealer’s control.

Sam meets with the Feds, and leaks the intelligence that Michael provided which proves to be highly sensitive material. The agents tell Sam that this has piqued Washington’s interest, and they are sending a heavy hitter to handle the situation.
