OLD FRIENDS - S01E05

Michael (Jeffrey Donovan) and Sam (Bruce Campbell) are having a beer at a local bar when Michael spots Jan Hascek (Ilia Volok), a Czech assassin he assumes is there to kill him. In order to create a diversion Michael gets into a fight with a customer. He decides to keep Sam in the dark regarding Jan, lest he feel compelled to alert the Feds who are constantly questioning him.

Before he can figure out why Jan is after him, his mother (Sharon Gless) summons him to her house to fix the garbage disposal. Upon arriving Michael finds out that the disposal was a ruse to get him to meet with his ne’er-do-well brother Nate (Seth Peterson). It turns out that Nate accepted a job on Michael’s behalf, and has already collected most of the money. Jenna (Susie Ambromeit), a mutual friend’s daughter, ran away from home with her boyfriend. Michael and Nate visit her father Bill, who explains that the two of them got into a fight over her boyfriend: a scamming, crooked “modelling agent.”

With Sam’s help they track down Jenna’s boyfriend and find out that Jenna is working for the Wilhelm brothers who pretend to own a legitimate modelling agency, but in actuality run an escort service.

Before going after the Wilhelms Michael, however, has to make sure he isn’t killed in his sleep. He
booby-traps his loft; then he confronts Jan but gets nowhere, and narrowly escapes. His personal
matters handled for the moment, he crashes a charity function he knows the Wilhelm brothers are
attending. He manages to get invited to their party that evening, where he runs into Jenna. Without
revealing his identity he finds out that she thinks the Wilhelm brothers really are running a mod-
elling agency, and are going to jumpstart her career. Unbeknownst to her they are sending her to
Dubai; not for a modelling gig, but to become a high-priced call girl. Michael and his team hatch a
plan to rescue her. As an ex-spy’s work is never done he must not only simultaneously avoid get-
ting killed by Jan before he can find out who hired him, but also keep Nate’s creditors from break-
ing his legs.
