What is it about racy behaviour that has everyone running home to tune into their TV’s?
And with TEN's hit series Californication returning for a highly anticipated second season, you're only going to be running faster…
Californication centres around the life of Hank Moody (Golden Globe winner David Duchovny) who is struggling through his career as a writer while trying to win a family he’s already lost. But don't pity the guy for his situation; the feeling fades once he begins to bed women three times a day!
Season one ended with Hank coming to terms with having lost his long time love, only to have her bail on her own wedding and hop into his convertible, driving off into the sunset. Does this mean that a new Hank has emerged, now that he has his perfect family? Hardly. As part of the reconciliation, Hank undergoes a grueling vasectomy at Karen’s request.
That night, Hank and Karen meet Charlie and Marcy for drinks (yes, they're still married and running into even more ridiculous problems!). They wind up bumping into Sonja, the vomiting Scientologist from season one, who’s now pregnant, and her new boyfriend Julian, a renowned self-help guru.
The group heads to a party at the home of legendary record producer Lew Ashby, where Hank has an accident when he confuses a partygoer for Karen.
On the ride home, Hank gets arrested for driving under the influence and assaulting an officer. Never a dull day for Hank Moody.
TRIVIA: “I wanted to question the very nature of fairytale happy endings. And the reason why I freeze-framed on their smiles, is that if you let the camera go, the smiles will eventually fade...” - series producer, Tom Kapinos reveals why he ended season one the way he did.
