Holly Chong’s relationship with parolee Jack Logan is proving difficult to keep a secret, especially when he flirts with her at Canal Road. She finds him irresistible, but is soon compromised when Jack shoplifts in front of Anna Brock, a young woman Holly is trying to help go straight.

However, the rose-coloured glasses come off altogether when she witnesses Jack assault a guy in a back alley. Jack explains the guy owed him money, but Holly, trying to escape her past of domestic violence, wants nothing more to do with him. She tries to focus on work. Olivia notices her distress and tries to talk to her, but Holly knows she can’t divulge her secret. She does however open up to Spence who tells her she’s not powerless in the relationship.

Later when Jack turns up on her doorstep bleeding from a gunshot wound, Holly finds herself unable to control her own feelings and offers to help him get the money he’s owed. It all goes horribly wrong and Jack is arrested. Holly returns to work but her cool façade is hiding her true heartbreak.
