Ricky Gervais has revealed that his character, David Brent, who manned The Office is the subject of interest from both the BBC and Netflix for a possible return to TV.

Gervais told the U.K.’s Radio Times magazine that both the public broadcaster and the online subscription giant have expressed a desire to work out a spinoff.

The comedian, who co-created and co-wrote The Office with Stephen Merchant, resurrected the character 10 years after the original program went off the air for Britain’s Comic Relief charity show in 2013, and for the subsequent launch of Gervais’ own YouTube channel. Continue reading »

Just how bad is Kings Cross on a Saturday night?  How littered with the drunk and disorderly is it?  ABC braves the streets to find out in tonight’s Dead Drunk.

Part observational documentary, part event TV, Dead Drunk responds to current concerns about Australia’s drinking and party culture and the propensity of young men and, increasingly, women for violence.

Focusing on the country’s ultimate party strip for an intense 12 hours, the film follows key characters as they party hell for leather in Kings Cross one Saturday night – cramming it all in before new lockout laws end their fun slightly earlier. Continue reading »


It’s amazing, isn’t it, that a show in its 8th season can draw its largest audience yet while our local version fails and gets canceled for a second time.

The opening show of the eighth season of Simon Cowell’s “Britain’s Got Talent” attracted a record launch audience of more than 11 million viewers on Saturday.

The talent show began with 11.1 million viewers, a 47.3% share of the audience, between 8 p.m. and 9.15 p.m., with a five-minute peak audience of 12.3 million. Continue reading »
