Mardi GrasUnfortunately there is no channel this year screening the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.

There will be news coverage of course and some quick reports on the parade.

Foxtel’s Arena was the last broadcaster of the event. They seem to have overlooked it this year. Continue reading »

phil and amityAfter months of sneak peeks, annoying two minute jingles (think “It’s all coming back to me…”!) and wall-to-wall promos about the four returning couples, the Block All Stars finally premiered on Nine tonight (Monday Feb 4).

With the sort of bombardment Nine have subjected us to over summer, you’d reckon they’d get straight into the show.  Continue reading »

xfactorThank goodness we are here in the land Down Under, rather the land of the Great Long White Cloud or as the Maori’s say (land of the wrong white crowd). Yes our TV can be bad but check out New Zealand’s X Factor hosts!

British pop star Melanie Blatt (formally a member of All Saints) and Kiwi singer-songwriter Ruby Frost (Who is Ruby Frost?) will join Stan Walker and Daniel Bedingfield have been announced as the judging panel. Continue reading »

7TWOThe 7TWO morning soaps return in one week but one show is absent. Shortland Street has not appeared in the schedule with reruns of Night Court at 10.30am. It looks like its over to Foxtel (where it used to screen in the late nineties) for the broadcast of Shortland Street which is starting on Arena February 4th. Arena is upgrading the show to screen in prime time and with newer episodes. The episodes will be 15 weeks behind New Zealand. Continue reading »

Foxtel has responded to the thousands of complaints regarding the new movie package by adding 2 more +2 options from this Thursday. Family+2 and Action & Adventure+2 will be available in 2 days. The timeshift options are now up by 2 but as we know timeshift channels are not real channels. Most IQ users record their films and watch on delay already. Continue reading »

More emotional family drama than the sass I was expecting. It was actually quite depressing besides the music and 80′s references.

I was very sceptical from the beginning -
1 – Anna Sophia Robb, who plays Carrie, doesn’t look like Sarah Jessica-Parker (except for the hair)
2 – How can it compete with Sex And The City, where will the talk’s be with teenagers and how will they talk about their rude bits?

But I got it all wrong, this is a teen show and should never be related to Sex And The City but of course it will always be. That’s the biggest mistake, as a stand alone show it would have been great but trying to see Carrie Bradshaw almost fried my brain, I am too close to the character Carrie, as she is/was now. The Daily Telegraph have launched this video for us to learn a new dance (The Down Under Dance) so we can appaarently impress Ellen DeGeneres in March – PLEASE JUST DON”T !!!!

Is the death of Today Tonight imminent?
Since Australia has been in the grip of extreme heatwaves and severe bush fires, Seven News (Sydney) has morphed into a one hour bulletin every night – including Saturday but not Sunday – since last Monday, January 7, 2013.
Usually anchored by Mark Ferguson, the show is promoted within itself as a one hour special featuring Seven News and Today Tonight. Today Tonight, however, get no branding within the one extended news. Continue reading »

The 15th season of a Kardashian show is due to screen on E! in February with Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami Season 3 on the way plus the 8th season of Keeping Up With The Kardashians expected to start airing in July and let’s not forget since season 7 it has become a one hour show. But even after all this air time the questions “Who is Kim Kardashian and why is she famous?” continue to be asked.

I will try to summarize who Kim is but by the time I am finished she probably will have become something else further, released another cologne, guest judged on 2 more reality show panels and have her own line of Oreos in production. Continue reading »

Foxtel has a new movie package and I AM NOT HAPPY JAN! From today all their movies have turned into one package – combining the Showtime and Movie Network channels into one and now called the Movies and Premium Drama. Before, as fans of shows like True Blood, Dexter and Girls, we could just get the Showtime package without the other. Now we have to pay $32 for them instead of $16 each. Yes we get extra movies and shows – but what if we don’t want them? Continue reading »
