Channel 9 Losing Their Dots Again?

Are 9 about to drop the dots from their logo once again?

A FreeView ad I saw last night around 7.30 whilst watching Masterchef on ch 10 used a different logo than usual for ch 9 reminiscent of the logo 9 used back in 2006 where the traditional 9 dots were dropped. At the time, the logo caused some outrage and the dots were put back from 2007 on.

This particular FreeView ad used the 9 logo with no dots rather than the usual logo with the 9 dots. The 9HD logo was also changed, the HD part still in a round shape, but the nine the big blue 9 in the same style as usual, but without the dots.

{Updated} It seems this 9 logo without the dots is used in Adelaide and Perth - but the question remains - why did we see it in Sydney then? A mistake, or a change coming?

Could this be an indication of a re-launch of channel 9 in coming weeks or months in line with the beginning of the new channel? Maybe they are holding off any decent programming until then.

One thing is for sure. If 9 do not make any changes to what they are doing, they stand to lose significantly in the ratings for the rest of the year which will translate into less advertising revenue, and I am sure that is the last thing they want given 9 is now committed to a $500 million deal with Warner Brothers.

No, there are definitely different ads for different regions. Where I live I get both Sydney and regional TV and the regional freeview ad for Nthn NSW has NBN, Prime, and SC10 but not ONE HD, Prime HD or NBN HD (which doesn't exist yet but is on the Freeview web site).

I'd say what was on 10 Syd the other night was simply a mistake using the ad from Adelaide and Perth where the 9 logo does not have the dots, unlike the regular Sydney ad which has the 9 and 9HD logo with the dots.

And if the ad was the same in all areas, then there'd br far too much confusion. Maybe Townsville is a unique case.

I think you'll find that you arent that special, freeview ads are not customised per region, rather they are exactly the same no matter what region you are viewing them in. That is the reason that here in Townsville we see the 9 Adelaide/Perth logo as well as the Ten, 9 and Prime logos.
