Seven breaches code with incorrect classification of Packed To The Rafters

May 20th, 2010

The Australian Communications and Media Authority has found that Channel Seven Adelaide Pty Ltd, the licensee of SAS, breached the 2004 Commercial Television Industry Code of Practice (the code) by incorrectly classifying an episode of Packed to the Rafters as PG.

‘Viewers’ decisions about what they and their children watch are fundamentally informed by a program’s classification, so it is vital to the integrity of the broadcasting sector’s co-regulatory framework that licensees accurately classify programs,’ said ACMA Chairman, Chris Chapman. ‘As the ACMA has indicated on more than one occasion in recent times, the presentation of material with themes directed more towards an adult audience requires particular care if a program is to be classified PG.’

Mark Ferguson will host a live Seven cross to Jessica’s arrival. And a Seven News chartered yacht with World Champion female surfer Layne Beachley will be among the first to greet her as she sails into Sydney Harbour.

Programming Lateness and Inaccurate EPGs Return to Seven.

February 2nd, 2010

A month ago, I praised Seven for finally providing an accurate EPG that reflects the TRUE starting times of shows on their two channels rather than just saying "8.30" for something that starts up to 10 minutes later than that time. You can read that article here.

Now, I take all of that praise back.

It sould seem that now we are into the first week of serious ratings competition (although officially, the ratings season starts Feb 7) with numerous shows premiering this week or returning for new seasons, Sven have gone back to their old ways.

Is the Seven Network About to Offer an Accurate EPG?

December 28th, 2009

Could we finally see the Seven network providing an accurate to the minute EPG?

Over the weekend, I noticed that there were variances in the starting times of many shows on both Seven and 7TWO. In particular, Amazing Race on 7TWO showed as having a 12.57 start for Mon Dec 28 where usually it would show as 1.00pm start and then start at 12.57 anyway - meaning you miss the first three minutes if you are recording straight off the EPG onto your PVR without any allowance time for early starts.
