Does anyone know what this condition suffered by Mate is called? I suffered something identical two years ago.
I suffered extreme heart rate soar whilst in a five star restaurant in India. There was a scandal involving contaminated bottled water and soft drinks at the time so I opted for a half glass of wine with my food. I took a couple of bites of the food (very mild well cooked) and a sip of the wine. I went bright magenta red and my heart rate went VERY extremely high. I was in a lot of pain. I had been discharged from hospital a several days previously and was on some anti infection medications. I had been given no advice/warnings re what I could/could not do eat, drink etc by the doctor or the pharmacist nor my medically trained relative.
I was in terrible pain for hours. My foreign relatives' answer - put me in the hotel resort lobby, leave me to die and go back and casually finish their meal. No response to my plea for medical help. When the meal was finished they came out - I was still alive. They bundled me in the car abusing me for having spoiled their day and drove a long road journey to where we were staying. Again, no response to my pleas to see a doctor just abuse for spoiling their day. On arrival at where we were staying, again no medical help - not even allowed to rest on a bed. Over the hours of agony(about six or more),I used the Buteyko breathing method to very gradually slow my heart rate and meditation techniques/prayer - it is no small miracle I survived. I walked to a doctor by myself later that night. He thought I had probably suffered some sort of reaction to something!
I had no idea what I had suffered just knew I was very, very gravely ill. This report on Medical Emergency is the first I have seen or heard of anything like what I suffered.
I would very much like more information as I have suffered, comparatively speaking, some VERY mild bouts of 'tachycardia' (?raised heart rate?) since this event.
It would be a big help in my treatment.
