Schappelle Corby: The Hidden Truth part one was a must-see for viewers last night, attracting a very strong audience of 1.612 million viewers nationally for its two hour premiere. At its peak, there were 2.174 million Australians watching this fascinating fly-on-the-wall documentary, that followed the alleged drug runner and her family in the lead up to her court case in Bali.

The special was a timeslot winner across all markets for 25-54s, 35-64s, 18-49s, 16-39s and All People.

It was a strong night of news and current affairs on the Network, starting with National Nine News at 6pm. The bulletin attracted a national audience of 1.479 million viewers. In Sydney 446,000 people tuned in.

At 7.30pm, Nine’s flagship program 60 Minutes was the second most-watched show of the night, with an audience of 1.762 million people nationally, way ahead of Seven’s much-hyped Battle of the Choirs (6th, 1.344 million), and Ten’s Big Brother Live Eviction (11th, 1.053 million). In Sydney, 60 Minutes was watched by 554,000 people.

Nine won the night across all demographics: 16-39s with a 33.7% share ahead of Seven (25.7%) and Ten (28.3%), 25-54s with a 36.4% share, ahead of Seven (26.9%) and Ten (20.3%); and Total People with a 34.9% share, ahead of Seven (25.8%) and Ten trailing (18.1%).

In the advertiser-preferred 25-54 demographic, 60 Minutes was the number one show of the night with 863,000 viewers, followed by Schapelle Corby: The Hidden Truth with 836,000 viewers.

Rounding out Nine’s Sunday night was the audience favourite Domestic Blitz, the 4th most watched show nationally with a total audience of 1.506 million, ahead of Seven’s Gladiators (7th, 1.264 million) and Ten’s Big Brother (15th, 859,000).

Domestic Blitz was also the preferred 6.30pm show for 25-54s with an audience of 705,000 nationally, ahead of Gladiators (576,000) and Big Brother ((436,000).

Nine will screen an encore of Schappelle Corby: The Hidden Truth part one, tomorrow, Tuesday, June 24 at midday.

The compelling conclusion of this explosive film, Schappelle Corby: The Hidden Truth part two, premieres on Nine that evening at 8.30pm on Channel Nine.
