Foxtel Signs Michael Bublé For Coverage of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games

FOXTEL today announced singer Michael Bublé has signed on to be the official Olympic Ambassador for its ground-breaking coverage of the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games in February 2010.

A global superstar, Bublé is a Vancouver resident and mad keen Ice Hockey fan. He will not only be part of FOXTEL’s extensive Winter Games marketing campaign, but will also host an exclusively produced special titled Michael Bublé’s Canada which will air on FOXTEL and AUSTAR early in the new year, in the lead up to the Games.

Michael Bublé said: “I am excited about being part of FOXTEL’s Olympic Winter Games coverage and I am definitely looking forward to showing off my home-town.”

Bublé will also feature as part of FOXTEL’s Olympic Winter Games reporting team – appearing live from Vancouver throughout the Games to give FOXTEL viewers the inside running on his home-town and commentate on the thrilling sport of Ice Hockey.  As a co-owner of one of Canada’s most successful junior Ice Hockey teams, The Vancouver Giants, Bublé is keen to give Australians an inside look at Canada’s national game.

“The last time I was in Australia, I had people explaining the game of Aussie Rules Football to me. It will be fun to turn the tables and explain our national game to them,” he said.

FOXTEL’s Director of Television and Marketing Brian Walsh said: “We’re delighted to have secured Michael Bublé, one of the world’s most accomplished and popular performers, to spearhead our marketing and promotion of the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games.

“Michael Bublé is Vancouver’s favourite son and has a great affinity with Australia, and so, he is an obvious choice to feature in all our marketing and promotions in the lead up to FOXTEL’s ground-breaking coverage of the Games starting on February 13, 2010.”

FOXTEL and AUSTAR's coverage will be carried over four dedicated subscription television channels (available in both stunning high definition and standard definition) which will mirror the four Vancouver competitive settings:

Cypress will cover free style aerials, moguls, snowboarding and ski cross.

Creekside will cover alpine skiing, ice hockey finals, and curling finals.

Whistler will cover cross country skiing, ski jumping, biathlon, bobsleigh, skeleton and luge.

Vancouver will cover all figure skating, hot track and speed skating.

FOXTEL and AUSTAR subscribers will also be able to record the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games to the FOXTEL iQ and the AUSTAR Mystar, ensuring they can watch what they want, when they want, as well as on their mobile phones and personal computers.
