Matt (Hugh Bonneville) attempts to woo the latest overpaid TV historian, Bamber Jones, (Tim McInnerny) in the hope of editing his new book. To Elizabeth's (Elizabeth McGovern) horror, Matt invites Bamber, a renowned food snob, to dinner, claiming that she is the best chef in East Chiswick.
To add to the pressure of the evening, Leon (who has moved in with the couple while he figures out how to get rid of a violent stalker) decides to gatecrash the Bamber dinner with a potential new client, the latest teenage It Girl, Alison Fennel (Ruth Wilson).
While Matt rushes to brush up on his American history, ready for the big night, Elizabeth frantically struggles to perfect her pasta malfatti. But will it be enough to impress the great Bamber Jones?
Freezing is a modern urban comedy about what happens when fame and promise starts to fade away. It's about the pressure on a relationship when one of them has given up their country to be with the other. And it's about the dreadful people and priorities of media land.
Hugh Bonneville (Iris, Doctor Zhivago, Tipping The Velvet) and Elizabeth McGovern (Once Upon a Time in America, Ragtime) star as Matt and Elizabeth, a middle-aged couple who should be in the prime of their lives, but instead find themselves jobless, forced to spend 24 hours at home in each other's company and driving each other crazy!
Freezing will be repeated on ABC2 – Thursday, August 14 at 8:30pm
