Tonight, our four challengers test their mettle in a last desperate bid to win a place in the Grand Final of GLADIATORS.
The female challengers in pursuit of the prize are Victorian Michaela Williams (red) and, from New South Wales, Jacquie Watson (blue). In her quarter final, Michaela ran a little faster to earn 10 points in Hit and Run, but the rest of her attempts against the Gladiators failed to meet the mark. Pulled off the Wall by Angel, Michaela was nailed by Viper on the Dual and fell to the mats before being repeatedly blocked by Bionica on the Pyramid. Her 6.5 sec delay in the Eliminator saw her pull out all stops to win the heat and earn a Semi Final place.
Jacquie last ran the Gauntlet in under 30 seconds, but was brought down off the rings in Hang Tough by Nitro. Without podding any balls in Powerball, Jacquie proved no match for Destiny in Sumo Ball and failed to gain points. Despite her point losses and 4 second delayed start behind her challenger, she managed to win the Eliminator.
Both have proved they have the tenacity to pull through when it really matters – so who will be victorious?
The male challengers tonight are Joseph McKay (red) and Paul Baird (blue), both from Victoria.
Joseph’s strength kept him on the rings in Hang Tough for 5 points, and he managed to pod two balls in Powerball to snatch 4 points. What he couldn’t do was get around the Gladiators in the Gauntlet or stop the Tank, whose power was too great on Sumo Ball.
Paul Baird returns to the screen without girlfriend Kristine Banks-Smith, with whom he competed in both Episode 8 and 12. Paul’s last attempt in the Gladiator arena saw him collect 10 points in Hit and Run and race up the Wall ahead of Outlaw for 5 points. In Pyramid, he side-stepped Nomad to become one of the few men to reach the top, earning 10 points. His only fault was not winning his Dual against Tank.
It’s crunch time tonight as the men put all their strength and determination into the games for a grab at Gladiatorial glory. The winners will proceed to the Grand Final, with the two overall winners of the series (one male and one female) sharing in $100,000 and two All Wheel Drive Subaru Foresters.
GLADIATORS is hosted by TOM WILLIAMS and ZOE NAYLOR with referee BILL HARRIGAN.
