They’re used to fast speeds and daring situations, but will two water ski champions have the stamina and strength when they come up against the GLADIATORS tonight?
West Australia’s James and Queensland’s Simon are both national water skiing champs. Between them they’re also competitive in kayaking, swimming, soccer, boxing, kickboxing and BMX riding so they certainly have the sporting background to make them competitive in the Gladiator arena.
Simon also has a masters in hypnosis under his belt, so expect some clever mind games from this personal trainer when the men go up against the Gladiators in Gauntlet, Duel, Pendulum and Pyrmaid.
For the women, Victoria’s Michaela and Sydney’s Michelle are vying for points to help progress them closer to the grand final. For mum-of-five Michelle, taking on the Gladiators is a walk in the park compared to the dinner table at her house. While for Michaela, who has seven gold state gymnastics medals in the trophy cabinet at home, it’s a dream come true to make it to the arena.
Between them the might of the Gladiators towers 25.6 metres and weigh in at a formidable 1.19 tonnes. Working together as a powerful and commanding team, the Gladiators are more than strong opponents, they’re skilful combatants and the Challengers will have to outwit as well as outplay to gain valuable victories.
Will the Challengers gain any valuable points before squaring off against one another in the Eliminator?
The winners will proceed to the quarter finals, with the two overall winners of the series (one male and one female) sharing in $100,000 and two All Wheel Drive Subaru Foresters.
GLADIATORS is hosted by TOM WILLIAMS and ZOE NAYLOR with referee BILL HARRIGAN.
