On tonight’s final episode of HEROES for 2007, H.R.G. prepares the family to run, convinced that the Company is close to finding them - but Claire has other ideas.
Hiro returns from the past and learns of his father’s death. Grief-stricken, he flings himself into past and makes a stunning personal discovery.
After a charged first encounter with Elle, Suresh makes a decision that could change lives. Meanwhile, Matt struggles with his expanding mental abilities.
Maya and Alejandro’s relationship is tested as they travel with Sylar.
And Peter meets someone who could unlock his past.
Christmas shutdown period.
I'd guess this would have happened regardless of the US writers strike. Remember prior to this year that the Aus ratings period were Feb onwards. We're only getting Heroes now, rather than 6 months on, to "try" to stop people from downloading the episodes.
However the current episodes are still 7 days old, and with ads. Maybe they've given up on that idea.

yeah in also wondering why this episode has been changed into the final america still has two eps left after this one before they run out due to the strike...why dont we get the eps 'truth and consequences' and the now final 'powerless'.. just wondering

This is not the final episode of season 2 Heroes there are 14 episodes left the next episode after episode 9 is called Truth & Consequences why is there a season final and will heroes commence the rest of the episodes till next year.
