Dan’s newest mission requires him to deal with a man, Evan, who claims he’s a time traveler and needs help being reunited with his past love. Evan provides proof to Dan and Livia that his story is true, and says he is being sedated to stop his traveling. Dan and Livia travel, believing their mission is to save Evan but realize that his fate was sealed. Dan returns home and tells Katie that Evan was the real deal. Katie wants Dan to take sedatives in order to stop his traveling, but Dan believes that he is doing something of great importance. He understands if it’s too much for her to bear any longer but reassures her that if she stays, he’ll always come home. She smiles and says she’ll leave a light on for him.

Layoffs hit Dan's office on Christmas Eve, and he is forced to travel back in time to save the newspaper.
While Katie deals with the traumatic aftermath of Aeden's home invasion Theresa tells Jack she's pregnant.

Dan learns a difficult lesson about straying from his mission when he and Katie are targeted by serial kidnapper Aeden Bennett in the present time. Dan is further tested as he finds himself tracking Aeden as a young boy, which enables him to witness the events that made him mentally unstable, and Jack is finally confronted with undeniable evidence of Dan’s time travel.

Dan's travels land him in an RV hanging off of a cliff, where he must attempt to save a mother and son. Upon his return home he realises there are dire consequences to leaving things behind in the past, when his missing camera changes the course of the future and erases his son from his life. Meanwhile, in the present, Katie's sister comes to visit and suspects Dan is up to no good.

While alone with son Zach, Dan gets one of his headaches. He travels back to 1975 where he res- cues a man tangled in a parachute. He soon discovers that he is tracking the mysterious Dylan McCleen, a man who hijacked a plane with hundreds of thousands of dollars in ransom money aboard.

McCleen also known as Army Ranger John Richie, was searching for a Cambodian man whose family had kept him safe during the Vietnam War. Richie intended to repay the man by using the ill-gotten money to extract his family from Asia.

While Dan is on his new job, Katie is questioned about a robbery that happened the night of her big party.

Dan researches the man and discovers he will kill himself in two days time due to his gambling addiction. Does he attempt to help the city stop a natural occurance or does he help a man overcome his own misery?
