9.30pm thursday / OCTOBER 2
A couple returns from vacation to find a young girl they’ve never seen before dead in their apartment. Melanie Tamkin’s blood alcohol level was off the charts and it's founds she died from choking on her own vomit.
Dets. Benson and Stabler track down the couple’s dog walker, who had keys to the apartment. The dog walker had outsourced the job to prep school student Becca Rice, who then gave the keys to her classmate Reagan so she could throw the party. Melanie was an honours student from a different school and her parents thought she was at a school event in Hartford.
The four kids who threw the party - Reagan, Mark, Luke and Jordan are arrested for criminally negligent homicide, but get a slap on the wrist from Judge Donnelly due to their excellent academic records. Melanie's father is furious and pleads to Stabler to do something.
Stabler takes things into his own hands and asks his daughter Kathleen to guide him through the world of teenage cyberspace and find out where the next party is by checking on the teens' FaceUnion website.
The kids are found violating their probation by drinking at the party, so the police bust them again. Judge Donnelly thinks they have learned their lesson and lets them go again, but orders them back when insulting remarks about her and the detectives are found on the website.
Benson looks for Jordan at Becca’s house because she is his tutor and they find him in bed with Becca’s mother Lillian. Jordan is drunk, so they arrest Lillian and she’s released provided she doesn’t go near him or any of Becca’s friends.
That night Stabler gets called to a crime scene where Jordan and Reagan are found dead. Reagan was sober, but Jordan drove drunk and killed them both. At the memorial service it's revealed that his liver showed a long history of alcohol abuse. It's also made known that Becca is also a heavy drinker – she carries around a water bottle filled with vodka.
Before there could be another fatality, Child Services puts Becca in a rehab facility where she admits that she didn’t have any friends until her mother began supplying alcohol to her classmates.
How do you help a young mother who wants teenage boys to think she's hot, and buys kids alcohol and medicates her daughter's problems with alcohol?
