OVER HERE - Season 17, Episode 21

Two homeless men are beaten to death within an hour of each other and appear to have been kicked in the head by the same attacker.
The first victim lived in an alley near a car dealership and the detectives manage to locate security camera footage of the night he was attacked. Evidence at the crime scene suggests the attackers were from out of town, and the detectives quickly locate the hotel they were staying at.
It appears the suspects go from door to door selling magazines and stealing from houses unbeknownst to the owners. Detectives Green and Cassady catch the suspects in the act as they attempt to rob yet another home.The boots on one of the suspects, Bobby, matches the imprint found on the victim's heads, and the detectives are positive they have their man.
When Bobby appears in court he is much more subdued that when he was arrested, which suggests he's be-ing sedated. McCoy and Rubirosa learn that while in custody, Bobby was in a violent fight and was given drugs to control his rage. Despite the best efforts of the defence lawyer, the A.D.A's learn that Bobby is an Army veteran who suffered a head injury in Iraq and was sent home to recover in a secluded wing of a V.A hospital. The wing where Bobby stayed has since been shut down due to the atrocious and hazardous conditions. It turns out that Bobby at-tacked three hospital personnel during his eight month stint in this wing.Bobby's lawyer changes his client's plea to not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect as a result of the brain injury he suffered in Iraq. But McCoy's not buying it.
With his back against the wall, McCoy sets about persuading Bobby's friend Peter to testify against him in court. Will Peter turn on his friend after all they've been through, and give McCoy the vital testimony to close the case?
