Detectives Stabler and Benson investigate the rape of Kirsti McGarrett and the disappearance of her sister Rachel.

Kirsti's attacker, who was also Rachel's boyfriend Dan, is questioned and then released when detectives Stabler and Benson discover he suffers from sexsomnia and is therefore not accountable for his actions whilst asleep – including rape.

Dan is also cleared of any involvement in Rachel’s disappearance when it becomes apparent that Rachel leads a double life: an art student in real life; and a fourteen year old hooker in an online fantasy website where her avatar (screen persona) is Vixy Platinum.

The detectives delve into the world of online fantasy to track down Rachel’s kidnapper and discover she is being stalked by a real life executioner.

INTRODUCING: ADAM BEACH as DETECTIVE CHESTER LAKE
Adam Beach hates the term ‘Hollywood Indian’.

“It’s such a stereotype”, he says, “and yet, how do you get people away from it?” By taking on the role of Mohawk Detective Chester Lake on Law & Order: SVU, that’s how.

In one year on Law & Order: SVU, Adam Beach has achieved what he’s been trying to do for the last 17 years – create a different perception of Indian people.

While Beach is a Saulteaux Indian, his knowledge of the Mohawk tribe fuels his portrayal of Detective Lake. He explains that the Mohawks are known for their bravado and their willingness to fight to the death to resolve land issues. The Mohawks were native to the New York area and helped build it, he says, so that drive and pride in heritage explains some of Detective Lake’s behaviour.

As a child growing up in a predominantly native Canadian neighbourhood where 80% of the population went to jail, Beach aspired to have a career just like Johnny Depp’s. Today, the 35 year old says he acts because he wants to be a role model for other native kids.

“I’m not in the business to make money. I’m someone that a generation of native peoples across North
America can look up to - someone who has done the impossible.”
