MEDICAL EMERGENCY
Series 3, Episode 5
Tuesday August 14
8:00pm (PG)
In tonight’s episode of Medical Emergency, time is critical in rescuing a man trapped inside his truck after a horrific accident, and a woman arrives in the emergency department suffering from debilitating pain from a condition that is surprisingly common. And we revisit Margaret after her eye surgery. Have surgeons managed to save her sight?
Last week on Medical Emergency, paramedics transported 86-year-old Margaret to The Alfred after she fell in the street and seriously injured her eye. A team of surgeons have performed a delicate operation to save her eye, but were they successful in saving her sight?
Across town, 11-year-old Lachlan has arrived at the Sandringham Hospital. He’s broken one wrist and the other is doubtful. X-rays will determine whether Lachlan will spend his 12th birthday with his hands in plaster, seriously hampering efforts to open his presents.
Truck driver Pat is lucky to be alive after his truck rolled, but there are concerns he may have suffered spinal injuries in the accident. He waits nervously as doctors await the CT scan results.
Charlotte is comforted by a morphine injection to numb her excruciating pain but she may still require surgery to overcome her condition, which doctors explain will affect one in five Australians.
MEDICAL EMERGENCY is narrated by Chris Gabardi.

This show is brilliant and the only negative thing about it is that it doesnt go for an hour. The paramedics are concise and diligent and are always doing the best thing for the patient to make sure they have the best chance of recovery in the hospital. We undervalue our ambulance service and often complain but these guys take it in their stride and do what they beleive is the right treatment at the scene.
The show is real and puts us right there with them as we take a ride with the crew. I look forward to it each week and enjoy it emmensely.
