A speedway champion has an accident that could end it all, paramedics are on a Code One callout to a motorcycle accident and a young woman is suffering from a life-threatening flesh-eating bacteria.

A speedway champion has arrived at Melbourne’s Alfred Hospital with suspected spinal injuries. Stuart suffered paralysis at the scene of the accident and paramedics are worried. Stuart will need scans of his neck and back to see if he’s damaged his spine. His 25 year racing career may now be over.

A young woman has arrived at The Alfred from a country hospital. Clair has a flesh eating bacteria which if not treated quickly and aggressively, can cause disfiguring wounds and even death. Doctors need to get on top of her infection quickly before it eats away any more soft tissue. In addition to oxygen therapy, Clair is being dosed with strong antibiotics. She is still critically ill and may have numerous surgeries ahead.

Motorcyclist Callum was hit by a car and may have suffered breaks to his hand or wrist. He will need further investigation and may have to go to hospital.

While in Sydney’s South George Hospital, 6 year-old Anton is being taken to theatre so doctors can remove the piece of pencil from his ear.
