- This was one of the most biased pieces of journalism I have seen. It used an australian forensic scientist who is widely known to have been discredited and has been dismissed by the Victorian Forensic lab. His analysis and conclusions are incredible. He draws extreme conclusions from tenuous evidence. In addition the time line was not correctly described. It took Mr Barnes 5 years to come up with his so called 'matching' particles. In addition, the concept of matching particles in the way he describes them is ludicrous. His gunshot residue particles were not sampled until 8 days after the crime. If such particles did originate in the way he describes them(and that is highly contentious) they would be long gone in a car that was being used during the 8 day period. There is a perfectly reasonable non crime related explanation for the presence of these particles which Mr Barnes chose to ignore. Also the eyewitness evidence did not emerge until 3 years after the crime and that was after the 'eye witness' had been fishing with the Australian Federal Police angling club after which he somehow miraculously remembered seeing Eastman at the firearm dealer's house but took him 3 years to remember. If fact he testified at the inquest that he did not see anyone there on the day in question. Moreover not only did the gun dealer say he could not remember who bought the gun, he stated that it was not Eastman. The taped rambling of Eastmans were completely incoherent and no expert could positively say what Eastman had actually said. The reason the Eastman disrupted his trial as decribed was that he was and is suffering from a mental illness. It is very clear to anyone who has studied the details of this crime that it was a professional killing. There are several inticators for that. Eastman was a convenient patsy that no one liked because of his aggressive and unfortunate personality and so was easy to set up. If this is the standard of all the CIA TV investigations it is probably better to treat them all as works of fictions.
