Based on the book of the same name by bestselling author Nora Roberts, the film tells the story of Reena, a young arson investigator who steps into the greatest inferno she has ever faced.

In NORA ROBERTS’ BLUE SMOKE, Reena Hale’s (Witt) life is changed forever when, as a young girl, she watches her mother (Shire) and father’s pizzeria go up in flames. Inspired by her hero John Minger (Bakula), the fire inspector who caught the arsonist responsible for the pizzeria fire, Reena becomes a detective on the arson task force after graduating from college.

But despite her professional success, Reena’s love life is punctuated with heartache, as all of her boyfriends have died in fires. When Reena meets her charming neighbor Bo (Settle), she thinks her luck has changed, but an obsessed arsonist is determined to kill any man she loves.
