Perfect Day is a trilogy spanning six years about three fateful days in the life of a group of university friends. Originally conceived as a single drama (The Wedding), it was so successful the production team were asked to develop a prequel. This film is the prequel. The Millennium takes viewers back to 1999 to witness the genesis of many of the relationships seen in The Wedding.

It is 29 December 1999 and a group of friends set off to a remote Welsh cottage to celebrate the new millennium together. But the pressures of being back together put all their celebrations on ice.
It's a few years since the group left university, a formative time for each member of the gang - and Tom (Tom Goodman-Hill) has instigated the event in an attempt to recapture the spirit of the old friendships.

On their first night in Wales, Kate (Claire Keelan) takes an instant disliking to Amber (Jemima Rooper) and her all-too-close relationship with Kate's best friend Amy (Claire Goose). And it doesn't take long for Tom to realise he still loves Amy as much as he did back at university. But she's still with Pete (Aidan McArdle); the relationship no-one thought could last.

But by nightfall and with a little help from a lot of alcohol, the party is in full swing. Rob (Bruce MacKinnon) and Rachel (Josephine Butler) end up sleeping together despite Rob's fears of commitment. Luckily for him, Rachel's fake tan lasts longer than most of her relationships, so neither of them wants anything serious.

As tensions come to a head on millennium night Tom finally tells Amy about Pete and Amber. In the ensuing chaos the New Year countdown comes and goes unnoticed. In the aftermath of it all, it's Tom who's there to comfort Amy. Could this be the beginning of a beautiful friendship?
