A MOST MYSTERIOUS MURDER: THE CASE OF THE CROYDON POISONINGS

Sunday, 06 January 2008
The final unseen episode in the series based on true crimes narrated by the urbane Julian Fellowes, who takes a dark and labyrinthine peek behind the curtains of suburban Britain in the late 1920s.

A series of mysterious deaths occur within a year in the same respectable middle-class family living in Edwardian comfort in Croydon, south of London.

The Case of the Croydon Poisonings looks into the money worries, petty jealousies and resentments tearing the members apart. There's a son who is under pressure from an American wife to flee his domineering mother, a wife left in reduced circumstances with her husband's paltry pension and a daily help with time and opportunity to lay the bait.

Who hated the Duffs so much they would deliberately subject them to a violent and agonising death?

The police and medical inquiries proved inept and the trail went cold. Inquests failed to pin the murders on anyone. Which despicable person got away with cold blooded murder for the rest of their life?
