AGATHA CHRISTIE'S MISS MARPLE: NEMESIS

New Series Sunday, 03 February 2008

A new set of murder mysteries based on the stories of world renowned queen of crime Agatha Christie, with acclaimed actress Geraldine McEwan (The Magdalene Sisters; Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit) as much-loved amateur sleuth Miss Jane Marple.

Miss Marple's sweet old lady exterior hides an excellent perception of human nature and a razor sharp intuition for solving crimes - murderers underestimate her at their peril! These new productions continue the series' trademarks of star name casts, high production values and stunning locations. In episode one, Miss Marple is faced with her greatest challenge yet when she receives instructions from the recently deceased Mr Rafiel to investigate a 'possible crime'. But there's a catch - she has not been told what the crime is.

Instead, she is booked onto a mystery coach tour, led by the captivating Georgina Barrow (Ruth Wilson), to gather the clues. Miss Marple takes her nephew Raymond West (Richard E Grant) to accompany her on the tour, and it begins to dawn on them both that everyone has been placed there by Mr Rafiel for a reason, as their lives interconnect in various ways. More to the point, everyone is connected to a young girl, Verity Hunt, who went missing during the war.

With the help of young detective Colin Hards (Lee Ingleby), Miss Marple and Raymond piece together the secrets of the past to fulfil a promise to a dear old friend.

Nemesis - the last Marple novel Christie ever wrote is adapted by Stephen Churchett.

Nemesis stars Richard E Grant (Gosford Park, Withnail and I), Johnny Briggs (Coronation Street), Amanda Burton (Silent Witness, The Commander), Anne Reid (Life Begins), Ronni Ancona (The Big Impression), George Cole (Minder), Dan Stevens (The Line of Beauty), Will Mellor (Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps), Ruth Wilson (Jane Eyre), Adrian Rawlins (the Harry Potter films), Laura Michelle Kelly (who played the lead roles in both Mary Poppins and My Fair Lady in the West End), Lee Ingle(The Street) and Emily Woof (The Full Monty, School for Seduction).
