After three years as a member of the Nine Network’s Hi-5, Fely Irvine today announced her departure from the hit pre-school group.

Her final performance will be at Vision Australia’s Carols by Candlelight, which will be broadcast by Channel Nine on Christmas Eve.

With Fely’s departure, Hi-5 welcomes Dayen Zheng who will join current cast members Lauren Brant, Casey Burgess, Tim Maddren and Stevie Nicholson. Dayen is an accomplished singer, dancer and actor who joins the Hi-5 team after an extensive audition process throughout Australia.

Dayen was born in South Korea and moved to Australia with her family in 1996. She grew up in Cairns and studied at the Gold Coast Dance and Development Centre, graduating with an Advanced Certificate in classical ballet in 2010. She also studied singing and performed on many occasions at annual concerts.

Her acting credits include a support lead in the television series Lightning Point in the role of Gina. As well as appearing in various television commercials she has also worked as an extra on the television series Sea Patrol, Slide, and Terra Nova, plus the feature film Bad Karma and the documentary Singapore 1942.

Martin Hersov and Cathy Payne, Directors of Hi-5 Operations, said: “We thank Fely for the hard work, passion and commitment she’s shown during her time with Hi-5. We wish her well in all her future endeavours and look forward to welcoming Dayen to the colourful world of Hi-5.”

Fely joined Hi-5 in 2009 along with Tim and Lauren. During the past three years she has filmed 135 episodes of the television series, featured in 13 DVDs, recorded three CDs and toured extensively throughout Australia and Asia to the delight of her young fans and their families.

Fely said: “My time with Hi-5 has been a magical chapter of my life. I have met and worked with many amazing people, however the time has come for me to start on a new path. I’m excited about the prospect of new things and the idea of continuous growth for me, not only as an actor but also personally.

“I have already had tears during rehearsals, so I’m positive I’ll be full of emotion at Carols by Candlelight, which will be my final performance with Hi-5. This is one of my favourite performances of the year so I could not ask for a better way to say farewell.”

You can catch Fely in her final appearance at Vision Australia’s Carols by Candlelight from the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne on December 24. Gates open at 5.00pm. If you’re not in Melbourne, the television broadcast will commence at 8.00pm AEDT on Channel Nine.

Hi-5 will tour extensively throughout Australia in March and April 2012 with their Hi-5 Holiday stage show, which will be Dayen’s first tour with the group. For touring information please visit www.hi-5.com.au.

Intro: Rod Gregory was just another ordinary rural senior who, when announcing he would be performing comedy on stage, everyone thought was nuts. But the only thing nuts about his audition, was his material. Based on his many ‘experiences’ with Viagra, Gregory, who titled himself as ‘The Old Fella’, got the audience laughing and screaming. He was even able to make Brian McFadden keel over in laugh-induced pain for some of his performance. It was hilarious; and his wife, who was the bud of some or most of his jokes, didn’t seem to mind a bit. Unlike other comedians on the show (Jordan Paris, for example), The Old Fella’s jokes didn’t wane- they just got funnier and funnier. So much so, that this retired farmer from SA’s Maitland district made it to the finale! He managed fourth place amidst a wave of overwhelming talent- a very well deserved position if you ask me.

Why They Made The List: When a performer enters the stage on shows like this- one of the worst lines that can come out of their mouths is ‘I’m a comedian’. I hate it! They are never good, and up until this year, I shuddered at the fact that when someone came up to mutter that sentence, I would have to sit through three minutes of garbage. But I was wrong. The Old Fella’s jokes were so dirty, they were like garbage- but he was anything but. Out of any contestant this year, bar maybe some dancers, the performances from The Old Fella are probably some of those I would highly recommend people see the most. This man is phenomenal, and he is one 2011 star who you definitely will see again and again.

Legacy: As I have just said, you will see this man again and again. Just look on Google, and you will see how fired up Rod’s career is. You may have never heard of him before, but you most certainly will now. Rod has already been heard on radio stations for interviews (and no, not just those interviews reality stars get after being eliminated- these ones are based on his shows) and is already starring in sold out shows. In fact, today, he is apparently doing some ‘drive time’- whatever that means. In upcoming months you will hear him in clubs and pubs around Adelaide, Perth, QLD and wherever- as well as up in the sky on comedy channels in flights heading from Perth to Adelaide. He is also about to celebrate his 70th birthday. Aww.

There’s so much more left in this old coot- but ‘he wouldn’t be dead for quids’.

What a legend- a definitely deserved twelfth place for The Old Fella. Who made it into eleven? That will be revealed tomorrow. A little hint; most of us don’t like her.

Network TEN is pleased to announce the outstanding  cast of actors who will star in the highly anticipated 2012 drama series Brothers in Arms.

This gripping six part drama series, which recently finished filming, tells the true story of two motorcycle clubs, and two men, on a journey from loyalty to rivalry…with deadly consequence.

Brothers in Arms boasts some of Australia’s finest actors, including:

Callan Mulvey (Rush, The Hunter, Underbelly) Matthew Nable (Killer Elite, 33Postcards, East West 101), Susie Porter (East West 101, The Jesters, Sisters of War, My Place),  Maeve Dermody (Paper Giants, Griff The Invisible, Beautiful Kate), Anthony Hayes (The Slap, Burning Man, Animal Kingdom), Todd Lasance (The Great Mint Swindle, Crownies, Cloudstreet, Underbelly Files: Tell Them Lucifer Was Here),  Luke Ford (Red Dog, Animal Kingdom, The Black Balloon),  Jeremy Lindsay Taylor (Underbelly: Razor, Sea Patrol, Blue Heelers, Something In The Air), Damian Walshe-Howling (Terra Nova, The Reef, Underbelly), Nathaniel Dean (Wild Boys, Rush, Satisfaction, Underbelly), and  Luke Hemsworth (Tangle, Neighbours, Satisfaction.)

Milperra is a name that will be remembered in infamy. On September 2nd, Fathers Day 1984, two motorcycle clubs – the Bandidos and the Comancheros – went to war at a public swap meet. After a brief but violent battle, seven people had been shot dead, including a 14 year old innocent bystander, and some forty other club members needed hospitalisation. Brothers in Arms is the story of how that day came to pass.

In announcing the cast, TEN Executive Producer Rick Maier says: “There is obviously a great responsibility to tell a story like this truthfully, respectfully and with conviction – so we felt very privileged to see this outstanding ensemble come together. This was a complex shoot and we think that across the board they have delivered the performance of their careers.”

Based on the book by Lindsay Simpson and Sandra Harvey,  Brothers in Arms  is written by Greg Haddrick (Crownies, Underbelly, The Society Murders, My Husband My Killer, MDA), Roger Simpson (Satisfaction, Stingers, Halifax fp, Good Guys, Bad Guys) and Jo Martino (Satisfaction, Winners & Losers, Carla Cametti PD, Stingers). The six-hour miniseries is being directed by Peter Andrikidis (The Straits, Killing Time, East West 101, Underbelly, Jessica, My Husband My Killer).

Seven’s summer of Tennis consists of the Brisbane International, APIA International, AAMI International and the Australian Open – the first Grand Slam for the 2012 season.

Intro: Anastasia & Chris entered the first season of The Amazing Race Australia as the resident soon-to-be newlyweds. Or so they thought. This show was sure to put them through their paces, but no one could predict just how much of a toll this would have on their relationship. Despite their fall backs, they were quite a successful team. Sometimes landing at the bottom end of the list, they did manage to scrape into the top three when it came to reaching the pit stop. They came in at first place only once, but bitter sweetly, it was at a pitstop, unbeknownst to them, in the middle of a double length leg of the race; meaning they had only ran half of the current leg, and they had to continue. During this second half, the two competed in a challenge which made them use a two person saw to cut pieces of wood off of a log. The two were not even able to cut off one piece. At the actual pit stop, they came in second, however due to the failed challenge; they were forced to take a four hour penalty. Unfortunately, all of the other teams managed to successfully make it to the pit stop within that four hour time, marking the end of Chris & Anastasia in sixth place.

Why They Made The List: Chris & Anastasia are a very special part of this list, mainly because they are some of the only people who made it because of their actual game play. Well, maybe that isn’t the full story. You see, these two are Greek, and Greeks are usually very argumentative, especially when under stressful situations and when the two parties involved are dating each other! It didn’t help that Chris seemed to have an attitude problem. These two fought constantly in fights usually escalated by Chris and his bad temper. Small things, such as not reading a map properly, not adding anything intelligent to the conversation and even taking the wrong turn, set Chris off. But in all infamously, it was a task involving wine which caused the two to have their biggest outburst yet.

Having to transfer wine from a massive holder into barrels, Chris told Anastasia not to start pouring the wine in so soon. She did. And as the wine poured over the ground, Chris went off; telling her to listen to him and do as she’s told. Chris was definitely the bad guy in this situation, not helped by his oftentimes sexist remarks towards his girlfriend (who could forget the ‘daddy never spanked you when he should’ve’ line?). In this situation though, the usually submissive Anastasia didn’t hold back; giving him a mouthful of opinion as well. It was probably one of the biggest, if not the biggest spats of 2011.

The straw that broke the camels back when it came to including them into this list however, was actually due to their ability to work together. You see, between all the spats and dummy spits, this team did very well to pick themselves up, work coherently, and show us moments of love and support. A team like this would have ripped themselves apart early and would have usually succumbed to the dreaded pit stop early in the race; but for this couple to make it to sixth place is a remarkable show of resilience, perseverance and strength; something that shouldn’t be sneezed at.

Legacy: While these two contestants have slipped into quietness and normality, it should be noted that they have since separated. Anastasia does not hate Chris for his outbursts, blaming them on the pressures of the game, but didn’t blame the pressures of the game on their demise. Chris, who was afraid of what Anastasia’s father would think of the on air footage of him, has even admitted to losing sleep after watching himself yell at Anastasia. Yes, there was definitely a lot to sort out with these two.

Since then, Anastasia has found new love. Fellow contestant Mel Munday introduced her to South Australian AFL player and student nurse Ash Duncan at the Amazing Race party in Adelaide. And what happened to Chris? Dunno.

So, a very unlucky couple indeed; very fitting for number 13. Their situation wasn’t anything to laugh about, but for tomorrow’s number 12 entry, there was always reason to have a bit of a chuckle.

Intro: Nathan & Tyler were Australia’s answer to the frat boy genre in our very first edition of The Amazing Race Australia. Starting on the show; they entered the first pit stop (located in Lombok, Indonesia) in 6th place, somewhat average considering the eleven competing teams. But from there on, it was their time to shine! Reaching the pit stop first three times and never coming short of third place, this game was theirs to win! And guess what? They did! Despite racing through Perth against models and Perth residents Sam and Renae, they were still able to make it to Heirisson Island and the final pit stop in first place, therefore making them the inaugural winners of The Amazing Race Australia.

Why They Made The List: On top of being the show’s first ever winners, this team is a memorable one. They were quirky, entertaining and very versatile, showing both positive and at times negative attitudes towards the game and one another. They were brilliant strategists and fantastic role models on how to play this game properly. No doubt that when quoting a ‘hero’ team in future seasons, contestants will look back on these two as the perfect contestants.

Legacy: Nathan Joliffe was most known for his dating of model and actress Erin McNaught. That fact alone probably got him on the show. The relationship seemed all too Hollywood-y and sure enough, the two have now split. Not much seems to be happening with Tyler, but Nathan is currently taking up acting classes in the hope of starring in local soaps or landing a presenting gig (source: chic celebrity).

And that, my friends, is why these two stars made the list at number 14! Tomorrow is unlucky thirteen and a bit of a clue; also featuring in The Amazing Race Australia, this team didn’t always have the best of luck.
