Several unlikely Gold Logie nominations have led to questions being asked over the 2011 Logie Awards voting.

The three nominations of The Circle co-host Chrissie Swan for the Gold Logie, Silver Logie for most popular presenter and most popular new talent was the big surprise following the announcement yesterday for the May 1 awards.

Other surprises include the nominations of Asher Keddie and Karl Stefanovic for the top award and the one single nomination for ratings juggernaut MasterChef for most popular reality programme.

Swan’s nomination is being questioned given she is one of four co-hosts of The Circle, a show that draws around 70,000 viewers on average per day.

Packed to the Rafters has proved the biggest hit with fans, pulling 15 nominations in total, including Gold Logie nods for Jessica Marais and 2009 winner Rebecca Gibney.

Votes were cast this year by TV Week readers in both print and online mediums and are officially audited.

Anyone get the impression Nine are tyring to rush through episodes of the Million Dollar Drop?

CSI fans will get duped again with another Thursday night episode of The Million Dollar Drop dropping into this Thursday night – April 7, at 8.30pm.

Apart from Melbourne, this will be the third week in a row that the Million Dollar Drop has played on both Monday and Thursday nights.

Unless there is another last minute change, CSI returns at 8.30pm Thursday April 14.

Today James Elmer takes to the studio floor co-hosting ABC3’s hosted block, Studio 3.

Originally from Queensland, James spends a good deal of time ripping up the dance floor with his specialty in hip-hop. He has been a finalist in the popular dance show, So You Think You Can Dance and was crowned the 2009 winner at Queensland’s Annual Rumble Dance Competition in the Open Popping and Locking category.

Recently James finished filming a role in the Canadian/Australian children’s show, Splatalot, which will air on ABC3 in late 2011. James says he’s thrilled to be joining Kayne and Amberley co-hosting Studio 3.

“To get this job was amazing! I’m very grateful for the opportunity and hope Kayne and Amberley don’t get sick of me when I pull out my Michael Jackson moves or sing to them when they’re in the make-up chair. I’m keen to make the ABC3 audience laugh, so stay tuned because not even I know what’s about to happen next!”, said James.

Jan Stradling, Executive Producer for ABC TV’s Children’s Television said, “James really stood out in the auditions as someone who has the ability to talk under water! He’s full of fun and on top of that, he’s an amazing dancer and singer. He’s someone who I think will continually surprise our audience, which is a great asset to have on a daily show.”

Studio 3 airs daily at 7am and throughout the schedule. The show covers celebrity interviews, games, viewer interaction and much, much more!

FOXTEL announced today that Deborah Hutton will present a range of special royal programming throughout April on its Bio. channel to celebrate the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton.

The specials are the first in a series of programming initiatives that Hutton will host throughout 2011 on the channel.

Hutton said: “I’m very pleased to be able to work with FOXTEL and the Bio Channel in presenting some exciting events over the course of the year. Bio has always been a personal favourite of mine offering intelligent, human stories which never fail to capture your attention.  The lead up to Kate & Will’s wedding is no different.  It’s the perfect introduction to a day to remember”.

In June, the accomplished presenter will front ‘Bio on Stage’, a special block of programs in conjunction with the Adelaide Cabaret Festival.

Deborah Hutton first appeared on the cover of Australian Cosmopolitan at 16.  Since then, Deborah has become one of the most recognisable and best-known personalities of modern Australia.

For more than 10 years Deborah represented the Myer Grace Bros Department store group as their national ambassador and spokesperson and in June 1994 the Nine Network approached Deborah to present the series Looking Good. Since then, Deborah has hosted the top rating Location Location, Amazing Homes and Celebrity Overhaul and appeared on programs including Fresh and Getaway.

Deborah was an editor for The Australian Women’s Weekly for more than a decade and is currently brand ambassador for Olay Regenerist.

And now, with the big day fast approaching, Deborah will take viewers through an amazing array of exclusive television specials that will help paint an intimate picture of the lovable Prince, his family and his soon-to-be blushing bride.

It had been a competitive week at Camp Biggest Loser as every contestant’s chances of staying were doubled, but with that, the chances of leaving also doubled.

It was Immunity Week, during which 4 people won immunity, leaving only the other 4 to compete to stay on in the competition.

It was Black against Black as cousins Rebecca and Sarah fell below the yellow line and faced each other in Elimination.

Whatever the outcome, the Commando would be another team member down – but who would the others choose to stay, or go?

Both still worthy contenders to stay on at Camp Biggest Loser but with 4 votes to 2, Rebecca, with 3 small children and a husband waiting eagerly for her at home, was sent packing.

Having entered the competition at a substantial 115.2kg, she leaves having lost 30.4kg, over a quarter of her total body weight, and leaves fellow family members Kellie and Sarah flying the Moon family flag!

Mad Men renewed for two more seasons

Mad Men has been given another two seasons by its American network AMC. The show will return for its fifth season next year.

MTV has ordered a full season of the US version of UK teen comedy The Inbetweeners. The network has announced a 12-episode season of the comedy that will join MTV’s other new series Teen Wolf, Beavis and Butthead and This Is Awkward in the new season.

HBO developing Ridley and Tony Scott series

HBO is developing a new crime drama series with Ridley and Tony Scott’s production company Scott Free. The series, entitled The Sector, is believed to be inspired by the likes of Blade Runner and District 9.

Fans walk out of Sheen’s first live tour show

Charlie Sheen’s first live outing on his Violent Torpedo of Truth Tour in Detroit has ended with booing crowds and walkouts. Entertainment Weekly reports that the show was “padded and disjointed” with a “hodgepodge of video clips and Sheen-isms that felt hastily assembled and misjudged.”

MasterChef Australia champ releases cookbook

Last year’s MasterChef champion Adam Liaw has released his cookbook entitled Two Asian Kitchens. The book is the same as Liaw pitched it while on the hit cooking series, featuring easy Asian recipes to be cooked at home.

The nominees have been announced for the 53rd Annual TV Week Logie Awards.  The winners will be announced on Sunday May 1st.

7mate in regional NSW and QLD may be showing the Friday night AFL from 8.30pm but it means their audeince will miss out on the new series The Cape which premieres tonight (April 1) at 8.30 on 7mate elsewhere the channel is available, as well as returning series the Event which airs from next Friday, April 8.

According to Prime7, they have no plans to air The Cape or the Event at alternative times unless they receive viewer feedback that suggests they should air these two shows.

If you live in an area where 7mate is screening the Friday night AFL, and you would like to see The Cape and The Event on 7mate at another time, then you should contact Prime7 (or 7QLD in QLD) to let them know your thoughts.

To me, the solution is simple – and it can come straight from Seven itself – program encores of these shows late night – after midnight even – on other nights. That would avoid additional split programming between 7mate in Sydney and Brisbane and their regional counterparts.
