For the week commencing April 3, Ten have rearranged their schedule yet again. Finally they have moved new NCIS: LA back to where it belongs on Tuesday night after NCIS, Lie to Me is back on Wednesdays and another two hour comedy special airs – this time on Monday night.

1. On Sunday April 3, at 9.30pm will be a repeat episode of NCIS. At 10.30, a repeat NCIS: LA follows.

2. Monday April 4, at 7.30pm is that disaster special that they bumped out of March 28 in favour for Oprah with the Glee cast. It’s called 2011: 100 Days of Disaster and covers the events of the year so far and asks the question: what next? Hosted by Dr Andrew Rochford.

At 8.30, it’s the 2011 Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala. Join Your Gen’s own Josh Thomas as he hosts this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Gala! Acts include Stephen K Amos, Eddie Perfect, Wil Anderson, Jason Byrne, Kitty Flanagan and many more!

3. Tuesday April 5 – Your Gen continues at 7.30, new NCIS at 8.40 and new NCIS: LA at 9.40pm.

4. Wednesday April 6 – Double Lie to Me at 8.30pm – that is after it has been off for a few weeks.

5. No change to Thursdays, AFL states remains one week behind the rest for The Good Wife and Law & Order: SVU.

On The Biggest Loser Families, it is make over night – where the contestants get their makeover after being seen for months in their gym clothes.

The next few weeks on Ten.

The following week April 10-16 is the last week of ratings before summer. Expect another special at 7.30pm Monday, House back at 8.30 and Good News Week 9.30, before both having a break over Easter.

April 17-23 is the first week of Easter non-ratings, which will probably be filled with repeats. Same with the second week April 24-30.

Then – May 1 – Sunday – Logies night – ratings returns for the rest of the year. With Easter non-ratings from April 17-30, expect the finale of The Biggest Loser Families to air after Easter, possibly Sunday May 1, the same night as the Logies or even May 8. Masterchef series 3 also starts in May – most likely on the Monday after The Biggest Loser Finale.

OzTam Five city Live and As Live Preliminary Ratings Figures. Raw data sourced from TV Tonight. Five Cities are Sydney (S), Brisbane (B), Melbourne (M), Adelaide (A) and Perth (P). Figures are shown in order Total, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth. Shows not aired in certain cities denoted by 0 or n/a (not aired).  Does not take into account overruns or extreme last minute programming changes. Shares are 6pm – Midnight unless otherwise stated. Network abreviated to “nw”.

It’s been the first week of playing the game as SINGLES – every man and woman for themselves. That said, you’d think there might still be a sense of family loyalty… wouldn’t you?

Fellow Challenor Joe won The Contest this week and won a 2kg advantage – 1kg for him, and the other for whoever he chose to give it to. To everyone’s shock, he gave the 1kg advantage to Rebecca, and not Damien as would have been expected. As a direct result of that decision, Damien fell below the yellow line along with Lara and for the second time this season, Damien was eliminated.

Although his brother Joe has turned into the “villain” of the year, hell bent on winning, Damien has been a powerhouse and a total inspiration.

He entered the competition as the heaviest contestant we’ve ever had on the show weighing in at a whopping 234.4kg. His mobility was totally compromised by the sheer weight he was carrying and he was unable to do even the simplest of tasks such as doing up his own shoe lace, or one of the most important pleasures, playing with his children.

Well it’ll be much easier for him to leave this time as he’s carrying 64.8kg less baggage than when he arrived and exits weighing 169.6kg.

Joe will have to deal with the guilt and the fall out of the elimination but for now, Damien, hats off to you mate. See you at Finale.

From tonight, 7mate in regional NSW and regional QLD will air the Friday night AFL game at the same time as those in AFL states see it on Seven. Sydney and Brisbane have regular 7mate programming, and have to wait until 11.30 to see the AFL on Seven or subscribe to Fox Sports to see it live on the Main Event channel (518).

AFL fans in NSW and QLD have questioned why free to air digital channels cannot be used to air the AFL into traditional non-AFL areas – especially as the AFL is expanding into new markets. Interim anti-siphoning laws do indeed now allow free to air networks to use their digital channels to broadcast certain sporting events.

The news comes after ONE HD broadcast last night’s (March 24) AFL season opener live into NSW and QLD. Ratings were very low – just 9,000 Sydney, a lot more in Brisbane at 36,000. Brisbane’s figure of 36,000 was better than the movie on GO! from 9.30 which was watched by 34,000.

Given such low viewer numbers in Sydney, it is unlikely that 7mate in Sydney would follow suit and broadcast the Friday night AFL games in Sydney, but in Brisbane, based on 36,000 watching the season opener, it could well be worth 7mate giving it a go.

For those who live in areas where you can get both Sydney and regional NSW TV or can get both Brisbane and regional QLD TV, and therefore can actually receive two 7mate’s (as well as two of all the other commercial digital channels), keep in mind the regional version of 7mate is channel 63, the city version is 73.

If you have kept 73, and removed 63, you will either have to rescan or chose not to skip 63. Until now, there has never been any variance between the city version of 7mate to the regional version as far as programming is concerned – therefore viewers would normally have only needed to keep one of them.

The AFL on 7mate may do well in southern NSW in particular as well as south east QLD who now have their own team in the Gold Coast Suns.

Please note – that just because it is on 7mate, does NOT mean it is in HD. Given that the Friday night AFL games air on Seven in AFL states, Seven do not produce them in HD, only standard definition.

Here is Daryl’s latest Facebook message for all those holding onto the hope of Hey hey being on TV this year.

Hi All,

Well, we’ve been settling into our new offices quite silently over the past 6wks as we haven’t had phone lines. But as I write this the guy has just arrived to complete the installation. Yippee!

Sadly, there’s nothing to report about the on-air prospects of Hey Hey at this time but I can’t thank you enough for your efforts and genuine enthusiasm to keep the show on air. I can tell you that you’re not alone as we have been trying our best to make it happen too!

You might be interested to know I am adding a new member to our team. I’m very excited to announce that Corrine Lawrence, who started this page, is joining Somers Carroll. Corrine is coming from Adelaide where she has been employed as a graphic artist. She is obviously a great talent having the initiative to start her bring back Hey Hey campaign back in 2008.

I’m looking forward to catching up with the Hey Hey gang for a few laughs at our office warming soon. We are all quite upbeat about this year as we have a number of projects to work on and we’ll keep you in the loop as things develop.

Cheers,

Daryl

Cooking rules Seven programming for the next few weeks.

1. My Kitchen Rules – next Monday March 28, My Kitchen Rules is a 90 minute episode. The following Monday, April 4 will also be a 90 minute episode. On March 28, the team go to the Northern Territory, while on April 4, they cook for one of Australia’s biggest Chinese restaurants. The last elimination before finals week is on April 6.

As a result of the 90 minute Monday night episodes, Conviction Kitchen and Brothers and Sisters start at 9pm and 10pm respectively.

On Monday April 11, is the first semi-final of My Kitchen Rules. Two teams must cook their best three course meal for the judges. The winner goes into Wednesday’s Grand Final, the loser is eliminated.

Tuesday April 12 is the second semi final – again the losing team will be eliminated, while the winning team goes into the grand final to compete against Monday night’s winner.

Wednesday April 13 – My Kitchen Rules 2011 Grand Final. The winning teams from Monday night and Tuesday night fight it out to see who will be the 2011 champion and walk away with the $100,000 prize. They must prepare a five course meal for the judges. The Grand Final is scheduled for 90 minutes at this stage (probably will end up being closer to two hours).

2. Conviction Kitchen has its final at 8.30pm Monday April 11. Curley decides which two of the trainees will be taken to Melbourne to work in his restaurant. A tough decision for Curley, for the two trainees, their slate wiped clean and an opportunity of a true fresh start.

3. Just as Seven are about to catch up with current episodes of How I Met Your Mother, the show will have a small break. At 7.30pm, Thursday April 7, is the premiere of Heston’s Mission Impossible.

In this, the first episode, Chef Heston Blumenthal will take on British Airways and use his maverick genius to solve their culinary problems. He experiences their existing service firsthand – both as a customer and an employee – before the management outline their concerns. Can Heston dramatically transform their food production and overall business, while cooking without a kitchen and working with untrained staff?

Heston’s Mission Impossible continues 7.30 April 14 with Heston boarding the nuclear powered Royal Navy Sub MHS Turbulent to shake up the sailors’ food.

A Court today has been told of Seven boss David Leckie letting his sales chief James Warburton go without a fight to the Ten Network.

Warburton’s barrister told the NSW Supreme Court that Leckie informed Warburton following Grant Blackley’s removal from the chief executive role at Ten that “If you want to leave and do Ten, no dramas. We will let you go and just get on with it”.

Seven has started legal action against Warburton and Ten, arguing that he was supposed to give three months’ notice from the end of his contract.

The barrister for Seven told the court that Warburton supposedly took with him to Ten a box full of “sensitive” documents, a claim that Warburton’s barrister has denied.
