Sheen replacement rumours begin

Charlie Sheen has been dumped from Two and a Half Men for all of one day and the rumours for a replacement are already beginning. TMZ is reporting that series producer Chuck Lorre has reached out to actor Rob Lowe as a possible replacement for Sheen.

Criss Angel honoured

TV magician Criss Angel has become the youngest inductee into the International Magic Society Hall of Fame. The 43-year-old star of Criss Angel: Mindfreak was also presented with the group’s lifetime achievement award.

Scrubs actor join pilot

Former Scrubs actor John C. McGinley has joined the new ABC pilot Smothered where he will feature alongside Marcia Gay Harden and Sons of Anarchy actor Adam Arkin.

Sheen celebrates firing in style

In Charlie Sheen news, the actor has reportedly celebrated his axing from Two and a Half Men by brandishing a large machete on the roof of the Live Nation building in Beverly Hills. TMZ have footage of the actor waving the sword before declaring “this is the greatest day of my life.”

Breaking news: Charlie Sheen is standing on top of a building in Beverly Hills, holding a machete and drinking his drink of choice – a toxic cocktail he calls “Tiger juice”.

There appears to be other with him in his latest tirade.

On the internet, “Sheen’s Corner” has reach 100 million hits although it appears most people view it for the novelty factor, quickly tuning out rather than listening to the endless rant.

On a serious note, this behaviour is a possible sign of a mental issues that surely should be dealt with by authorities. Either Sheen’s family should perform an intervention or he should be committed for not only his own safety, but those around him.

A multi-year deal has been announced today which will see Wimbledon broadcast in 3D around the world.

Sony and the All England Lawn Tennis Club have formed a partnership that will see the annual Grand Slam tournament shot in 3D and screened in cinemas around the world.

The 3D content will also be made available to broadcasters although it looks likely that seeing as the BBC is the host broadcaster and must provide terrestrial coverage, the 3D coverage will not be available on the UK’s only 3D channel Sky3D.

“We are delighted that our 3D partnership with Sony will not only guarantee we are at the cutting edge of live sporting television, but also deliver a compelling new viewing experience for our global audiences, especially among our younger supporters,” said Ian Ritchie, chief executive of the All England Lawn Tennis Club.

Brisbane Roar and Central Coast Mariners will battle it out for an historic maiden Hyundai A-League title this Sunday when football fans will be treated to a four-hour Grand Final feast LIVE and only on Australia’s Sports Leader, FOX SPORTS.

50,000 fans are expected to pack the now fully recovered Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane for the 2010/11 decider, where the Roar will start hot favourites on their home turf to capture their first Hyundai A-League crown.

Standing in their way will be the Central Coast Mariners, who under the guidance of former Socceroos coach Graham Arnold are also searching for their maiden title in what will be the club’s third Grand Final appearance since the A-League’s inception in 2005/06.

FOX SPORTS will provide fans with four hours of extensive LIVE coverage of Grand Final day, beginning with a special edition of Hyundai Matchday Saturday from 3.30pm on FOX SPORTS 3HD & FOX SPORTS 3.

Host Adam Peacock and regular panellists Mark Bosnich and Robbie Slater will be joined by Socceroos legend Mark Viduka and Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson for an hour of Grand Final fun and frivolity, where they will unveil the FOX SPORTS-voted goal of the year and share their views on where the big game will be won and lost.

Following Matchday Saturday will be a half-hour pre-game show, where Andy Harper, Melanie McLaughlin and Mark Rudan will take a close look at the decider LIVE from Suncorp Stadium. They will reveal the FOX SPORTS-voted player of the year and take a revealing look at Brisbane’s German sensation Thomas Broich.

Then, at 5.00pm AEDT, the Grand Final officially gets underway between the Brisbane Roar and Central Coast Mariners. After the match, viewers will be able to join the celebrations with the winning team as FOX SPORTS continues its LIVE coverage through the official presentation.

Fans can also stay in tune with the latest team news and events leading up to, and during, the Grand Final on FOX SPORTS News through regular LIVE crosses to reporter Brenton Speed on location in Brisbane.

“Brisbane has had a phenomenal season and they are the clear favourites for the title playing in front of a packed Suncorp Stadium, but the Mariners are certainly capable of springing an upset. Its set up to be one of the great Grand Finals,” said Slater.

FOX SPORTS LIVE and EXCLUSIVE coverage of the Hyundai A-League Grand Final is available to FOXTEL and AUSTAR subscribers.

Dazzling new British drama will air in Australia this year following the conclusion of deals by BBC Worldwide Australia in advance of BBC Showcase.

UKTV will premiere Zen (3 x 50) from April 2011, with renowned actor Rufus Sewell as the eponymous Italian detective who always puts honesty before advancement. It brings passion, intrigue and humour to a series set against the visually rich backdrop of Rome at its most stunning.

In Upstairs Downstairs (3 x 50), one of the most loved television series of all time is brought back to life for a premiere on UKTV in June. With a fresh cast, including Keeley Hawes and Dame Eileen Atkins, and sumptuous production values, this superb re-imagining by its original star and creator Jean Marsh is set against the historical backdrop of a Britain with a new King. With sexual, social and political tensions, it provides an evolving take on the master-servant relationship.

UKTV will also premier DCI Banks – Aftermath (1 x 90) starring Stephen Tompkinson (Ballykissangel) in April. The first of a compelling series of psychological thrillers from the creators of Wallander, Aftermath sets striking drama against the beauty and tranquillity of the Yorkshire Dales as Peter Robinson’s fictional detective comes to the small screen for the first time.

“These dramas are at the very heart of a tremendous line-up of content for 2011” said Kaye Warren, BBC Worldwide Australia’s Head of Sales. “We are genuinely excited about bringing them to Australia this year.”

More than 550 content buyers, many from Australia, gathered in Brighton, UK, last week to attend BBC Showcase, the world’s biggest program market hosted by a single distributor.

Charlie Sheen has been fired from Two and A Half Men.

The actor has had his contract terminated by Warner Bros. with one season remaining.

TV Squad reports that Sheen will attempt to sue the studio and CBS for breaching the agreement.

Sheen released this statement to TMZ:

“This is very good news. They continue to be in breach, like so many whales. It is a big day of gladness at the Sober Valley Lodge because now I can take all of the bazillions, never have to look at whatshisc–k [Chuck Lorre] again and I never have to put on those silly shirts for as long as this warlock exists in the terrestrial dimension.”

Former child actor Sarah Monahan is now threatening civil action against the Seven Network and her former Hey Dad co-star Robert Hughes after claims of inappropriate behaviour.

33-year-old Monahan is claiming she was the victim of inappropriate behaviour from Hughes, who played her on-screen father in the 1990s series.

Monahan says she will not wait until NSW police conclude their investigation before she begins civil action.

“We really don’t know how much longer it’s going to take and (police) can’t tell how much longer it’s going to take or if it’s even ever going to result in charges,” she said.

She says Seven execs also knew of the allegations but did nothing.

“I was sure that they knew because everybody knew.

“It’s all about them making their money and the best way to hurt them is with their pocket book, go after their money,” she claimed.
