Conviction Kitchen encore number 5.

Getting a bit ridiculous now.

There is another Conviction Kitchen encore at 5pm Tuesday March 1 on 7TWO.

That is in addition to:

10.30pm Friday Feb 25 on Seven

12.30pm Sat Feb 26 on 7TWO

10.00am Sun Feb 27 on Seven

3.00pm Mon Feb 28 on 7mate.

And the My Kitchen Rules encore of all three of this weeks’ episodes is now confirmed for 8.20am Sunday Feb 27.

Wednesday February 23, 2011

Doesn’t look good for Blue Bloods – just 467,000 for the first episode at 9pm, 377,000 for the next – the double has done serious damage – perhaps viewers could not commit to the two episodes? The return next week will be low as well. Maybe time for yet another programming change from TEN – moving Lie to Me to 8.30 Wednesday?

Seven yet again dominated the night – My Kitchen Rules near 1.4 million, Criminal Minds at a million until past 10pm. Nine held steady although Farmer Wants a Wife was no doubt hit by My Kitchen Rules running until after 9pm as its figures were down on usual. Adam Hills on ABC1 also down.

Seven was the obvious winner for the night. 7TWO was most watched digital channel while GO was third behind 7TWO and ELEVEN. ONE HD had its best share yet for one of its movie nights.

Western Australia’s Kerry and Holly were the first team eliminated tonight on MY KITCHEN RULES in a tense sudden death cook-off against Victoria’s Kane and Lee.

The mother-daughter duo were forced into the elimination round after a series of disasters in the last instant restaurant of the competition. Scoring a lowly 55 points, placing them last on the Group 2 ladder, forced them into a sudden death cook-off against Group 1’s lowest scorers Kane and Lee.

Both teams had to produce their best signature dish for judges Pete Evans and Manu Feildel. The Victorian housemates proved victorious, scoring 16/20 for their Thai Chicken Curry. Kerry and Holly were narrowly beaten by only two points, their duo of pork earning 14/20.

Pete and Manu paid tribute to the ousted pair, calling them “great competitors.” “I’m sorry you’re the first to leave as I really don’t think we got to see the best of you,” Pete said.

The Victorians conceded it was close and that they were lucky to escape elimination. “We’re glad it’s not us going home but at the same time we sympathise with them because it could have so easily have been us,” Lee said.

Kerry and Holly were gracious in defeat. “To be eliminated is heart-wrenching,” Holly said. “But at the end of the day we were one of 12 teams selected from the whole of Australia. We’re proud we even made it this far.”

Kerry added: “That’s what life is about. Learning from your mistakes and trying to improve on them. It’s been tremendous.”

Next week MY KITCHEN RULES moves into the next exciting phase of the competition.

They’ve enjoyed cooking on their home turf but on Monday night they will cook in other people’s homes for an entire street of people for their annual street party. For the first time, real people will get to vote on the contestants’ food. The team with the best dish will win the People’s Choice and a special reward. The weakest team – chosen by the judges – will head straight to Wednesday night’s sudden death cook-off where they will face elimination.

MY KITCHEN RULES airs Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 7.30pm on Channel 7.

Just three months after being given the top job, Grant Blackley has had his contract with Ten Network Holdings terminated, effective immediately.  What’s more, the board has unanimously installed Lachlan Murdoch as the acting CEO while a permanent replacement is sought.

The replacement comes as Ten’s hour of news has struggled to find its audience since launch. It is understood that both Murdoch and James Packer had opposed the new direction Ten had taken.

And here is the official press release in relation to the axing of Ben Elton: Live From Planet Earth.

Channel Nine and FremantleMedia Australia announced today the conclusion of Ben Elton Live From Planet Earth.

A Nine spokesperson said: “Ben and his team have done a fantastic job uncovering new Australian talent and we appreciate all of their hard work and dedication. From next Wednesday (March 2) the All New Simpsons on ELEVEN will move from 8.30 to 7.30pm. There will be a repeat episode of The Simpsons at 8.30pm. New Futurama remains unchanged at 8pm. Makes more sense – keeps the two new episodes within the 7.30-8.30 hour.

The episode is: The Blue And The Grey

After spending another Valentine’s Day alone, Moe decides to take action and asks Homer to be his wingman. Meanwhile, Marge discovers her first grey hair.

Another new show to premiere on Nine with Harry’s Law set to air at 9.30pm on Sunday March 6, after The Mentalist (thankfully no more double episodes).

It replaces new CSI: Miami which will now move into Monday nights at 9.30pm, following This Is Your Life – which will be airing Monday nights at 8.30pm from Mon Feb 28.

That means, unless changed prior, new episodes of CSI: Miami air on Thur Feb 24, then Thur Mar 3, then Mon Mar 7 – all at 9.30pm.

Harry’s Law: Academy Award winner Kathy Bates stars in this quirky legal drama as a once-successful patent attorney searching for a fresh start in down and out Cincinnati, setting up her unconventional practice in an abandoned shoe store.

This has to be a record for encores, and the first free to air show to be encored over three channels at four different times.

Encores of Conviction Kitchen can be at the following times, on the following channels:

10.30pm Friday Feb 25 on Seven

12.30pm Sat Feb 26 on 7TWO

10.00am Sun Feb 27 on Seven

3.00pm Mon Feb 28 on 7mate.

The show itself – as in the first run episodes – airs Tuesdays at 9.30pm.

And don’t forget, there will be a My Kitchen Rules encore on 7TWO from 8.20am – this will still show up in guides as TBA – as they usually do not confirm the encores until after the Wednesday night episode has aired.

Just as I was praising ELEVEN for having one of the most stable schedules out of any of the commercial TV channels, they have made some changes affecting weekday afternoons and Sunday nights.

From this Sunday February 27, Smallville will move to 10.30pm and Angel is out of the schedule. At 8.30 will be the movie You, Me and Dupree.

With ELEVEN now adding movies to Sunday nights, there are movies on five out of six of the commercial digital multichannels.

From Monday Feb 28, Family Ties and Sabrina the Teenage Witch will swap timeslots.

Sabrina will move to 6pm, Family Ties to 4pm. At this stage, the late night replays remain as scheduled.
