GLADIATORS is here! The colossal clash of Gladiator and Challenger is ready to showcase to Australia some of the country’s most courageous and skilful athletes. Between them the might of the Gladiators towers 25.6 metres and weigh in at a formidable 1.19 tonnes. Working together as a powerful and commanding team, the Gladiators are more than strong opponents - they’re skilful combatants and the Challengers will have to outwit as well as outplay to gain valuable victories.
In tonight’s premiere episode, four brave Challengers from around Australia take on the Gladiators in four action-packed games: the big hits of the Gauntlet; the one-on-one body blows of Duel; the high impact tackles of Pyramid; and introducing the swinging sensation Pendulum.
Going head-to-head in pursuit of the grand prize for the women are:
Natasha Haines (in red) from Victoria: a 26-year-old Legal PA, weighs in at 60kg and stands 173cm. She has represented her state in touch football and AFL.
Bryony Baker (in blue) from Queensland: a 29-year-old stunt performer who is no stranger to contact sports. She weights in at 65kg and stands 173cm tall.
Competing for the men are:
Damien Nicholls (in red) from South Australia: a 28-year-old aborist and rugby player, he weighs in at 85kg and stands 178cm tall.
Sam Brodie (in blue) from Queensland: a 23-year-old sheet metal worker, this former Junior Olympic swimmer is 88kg and 184cm.
After squaring off against the Gladiators, and hopefully earning points along the way, the Challengers will then face off against each other for the gruelling Eliminator race. Encompassing nine different confronting obstacles, it is the final chance for the Challengers to proceed to the next exciting round.
The winners will proceed to the quarter finals, with the two overall winners of the series (one male and one female) sharing in $100,000 and two All Wheel Drive Subaru Foresters.
GLADIATORS is hosted by TOM WILLIAMS and ZOE NAYLOR with referee BILL HARRIGAN.
