In an age of salacious, youth-oriented media, Elders is heading in the opposite direction and seeking the stories of our elders. It will explore six very different lives in search of that almost-out-of-fashion idea: wisdom.

This week, Andrew Denton sits down with author Isabel Allende.
At times, Isabel Allende’s life has read like a dramatic chapter from one of her beautifully penned novels.

At 65, she has known many of life’s most difficult moments - from the loss of belonging that comes with being uprooted and forced to flee your native country, to the incomparable sense of loss that flows from the death of a child.

Yet Allende has endured it all to remain a deeply passionate, insightful and spirited woman.
