This week on RSPCA ANIMAL RESCUE, Sydney Inspector Matt French receives a report of a dog in bad health.
On arrival, he finds that “Zoe” has been seriously neglected for years, even her breed is difficult to determine. Matt seizes her immediately.
Meanwhile, in Brisbane, after leaving several notices, Inspector Daniel Young returns to a home to seize a young cat that has been abandoned. It appears to be very afraid of humans and Daniel is concerned that even though the cat is beautiful and in good health, it won’t be suitable for re-homing.
Back in Sydney, Inspector Bev Holloway finds six working dogs tied with chains to various logs in an old tip with no shelter. The RSPCA investigates where the dogs came from and finds they’ve been left there by a drover who has nowhere to put them.
Narrated by ANTHONY FIELD, RSPCA Animal Rescue follows inspectors and staff of the RSPCA as they rescue, protect and prevent cruelty to the animals of Australia.

I am simply appalled and disgusted at what I saw last night. The agony that beautiful little dog endured must have been just excrutiating. Animals are afforded no real protection in our society and the laws surrounding animal abuse and ownership need to change. Federal , State and Territory governments continue to ignore their responsibility in this area (for example, the RSPCA does not recieve any government funding to undertake their important work) and local governments are left to regulate animal ownership. The $2000 fine imposed on the low life who owned Zoe is manifestly inadequate. Clearly, the current system does not work and a uniform, national approach is required. I would encourage anyone who was touched by Zoe's plight last night to contact their local council and state and federal member of parliament to register their disgust at the simply pathetic laws that are currently in place to protect defenceless creatures. I have attached a links with contact details for federal members of parliament.

I am still upset about what i saw last night...I really can't understand how a human being can see so much deteriorating and not lift a single finger. How could they say that man loved his dog?? I wish he could go through all the pain that poor little dog endured. Unfortunately i missed half of the episode since I was working and my DVD recorder stopped. I would like to know the whole story about poor little Zoe. What put her in such a bad shape apart from the lack of care (did she have a disease)? Is there a repeat of the episode or does anyone know where i could see it online?
