Reality on Ten: Future of So You Think You Can Dance Australia in question.

June 28th, 2010

Rumours are surfacing that The future of So You Think You Can Dance Australia is in question.

Usually part of Ten’s reality line up airing from February to April, the 2010 season was the show’s worst performing to date, leaving Ten considering whether to renew the show or not for 2011.

After poor figures in 2009, Australian Idol was “rested” for 2010 with one of the reasons being quoted as there being a timing clash in 2010 with the Commonwealth Games in October. Freemantle Media who product Idol are looking at the possibility of a revamped Idol in 2011, but nothing has been confirmed.

So You Think You Can Dance Australia: Thursday Night Special Performance - Gabriella Cilmi

March 31st, 2010

8.00pm Wednesday, Mar 31 & 8.00pm Thursday, Apr 1 on Ten

We're down to just 8 dancers - that means that all but one couple will be dancing for their lives this week and of course, for your votes.

The fate of the dancer's position in the competition rests completely in the hands of the Australian public. Judges Jason Coleman, Bonnie Lythgoe and Matt Lee are on hand to comment on each performance but they no longer have a say in who stays and who leaves. That decision rests solely with the voting public.

The six contestants that don't receive enough votes from Australia will be announced on Thursday night by Natalie Bassingthwaighte and have one more opportunity to showcase their talents before the announcement of which two contestants will be leaving the competition. Sharing the stage with them on Thursday will be multi ARIA award winner Gabriella Cilmi to perform "On a Mission".

Jessica P forced to leave So You Think You Can Dance

March 30th, 2010

The So You Think You Can Dance dream has come to an untimely end for Newcastle ballroom dancer Jessica Prince.

As seen in last week's show, she suffered an injury to her lower back muscles which was causing her a great deal of discomfort but like a trooper, she battled through her routines. Unfortunately, the rigours of the Top 8 choreography schedule have not proved conducive to her recovery and, upon specialist advise, she has left the competition.

As per the rules of the competition, the last one to leave returns, so welcome back Sydney hip hop girl Jess Stokes.

Ten Programming After Easter

March 26th, 2010

In the first week after Easter non ratings, Ten’s Sunday night returns to normal, while other shows which were in repeats or not even on during Easter are back. Here is the summary for the week.

To use the classic reality show cliché, we are “at the pointy end” of the competition for the Biggest Loser. On Sunday’s show at 6.30pm April 11, with the winners of the 42k marathon decided, the two winners are quickly put to the test in last chance training. The weigh in sees two out of the now five contestants fall below the yellow line and thus face elimination. On Monday, April 12, elimination night, another contestant goes home. A newly formed alliance could determine the result.

On Tuesday, the Biggest Loser contestants head to the Blue Mountains of NSW, while on Wednesday, they have the opportunity to turn to tables - swapping place with trainers Shannon and Michelle and putting the trainers through their paces.

The Biggest Loser on Sunday March 28 highlights the contestants success in new Zealand, with Monday night seeing them return to Camp Biggest Loser. Monday night is last chance training and the weigh in, but it turns out to be a non elimination week in any case. On Tuesday night, the contestants are also shown how Rick and Joe are going in Alice Springs with their commando training. Suddenly they all feel a little threatened.
