From thousands to twenty. One must win Australia's biggest dance competition.

Natalie Bassingthwaite welcomes us to the very first performance show for So You Think You Can Dance Australia and thanks everyone for the overwhelming response to the show so far.

In ten short weeks, the winner of SYTYCDA will take home $200,000 and a dance experience in Los Angeles that will be revealed later.

The dancers have already paired up and each week will pick their dance styles randomly and get straight into putting together a routine with some of Australia's best choreographers. Then they will perform for us on stage. At the end of the night, we're all invited to pick up the phone and vote for our favourite couple. Then, at the elimination show, the three couples with the lowest votes will dance individually to impress the judges. Once the judges have seen the contestants dance for their lives, they will pick one guy and one girl who must leave the competition.

It's a good start to the show. Plenty of room for improvement but a good way to kick things off. Matt thought they did that so well and adds that Rhiannon is hot. Bonnie thought they worked really well together. Jason had some issues with their unison. He says that Rhiannon dances on the front of the beat and JD dances on the back of the beat.

Courtney and Hilton

It was nice but Courtney didn't look comfortable. Matt was worried about Courtney's technique but thinks Hilton is a real contendor. Bonnie felt the chemistry between them. Jason noticed a few errors including a lift but thought it was a fabulous opening performance for them.

Vanessa Sew Hoy and Henry Byalikov

This is pretty cool to watch. They don't get their signature move in but it was still pretty hot. Matt commends Vanessa on performing something out of her comfort zone but wanted to see more upper body strength. Bonnie thought Henry helped Vanessa immensely because he was in his comfort zone. Jason thought it was a job very well done for a ballet dancer.

Camilla and Sermsah

Sermsah is awesome. It was a great routine despite some lifting trouble. Matt says if it wasn't for the lift it would have been totally awesome. Bonnie thought their bond really showed. Jason tells Sermsah that everyone believes in him and thought it was hot, hot, hot.

Jemma and Rhys look stunning in their costumes with the lighting. It was a weird ending but beautiful overall. Matt thought it was beautiful. Bonnie thought they both looked stunning and loved the opening. Jason thought it was a beautiful routine and his favourite of the evening so far.

Matt thought Juliette did such a great job complimenting both of their strengths. Bonnie agrees that Juliette had made them so amazing together. Jason commends Juliette as well and thinks Anthony is a formidable dancer.

Matt thought it was really exciting and liked how it wasn't a typical jive. Bonnie loved the costumes and was wondering if it was going to be Hip Hop. Jason didn't get it and thought it was a little loose and thought they had unision issues as well.

Matt thought it was so far from what Khaly is used to and was impressed and thinks Kate is the finest dancer in the competition. Bonnie criticizes the lack of eye contact but thought overall it was fabulous. Jason says Houtson, we have a problem. He loves them both but didn't like the routine at all.

Matt felt the funk and they had him groovin'. Bonnie loved their style and how they were cheeky with each other. Jason thinks they are a huge threat in this competition.

Matt thought Kassy really stepped it up and thought Graeme was right up there as well. Bonnie thought it was so lovely with energy and sex appeal. Jason loved all the costumes tonight and thought that what they did tonight was art but Graeme needs to work on the dead fishing hanging off the ends of his legs.

Tomorrow night, one girl and one guy go home.
