Mount Hutt, near Christchurch, New Zealand has today been announced by MTV Networks Australia as the location for the third annual MTV Snow Jam. This year’s main event will take place on Saturday August 16 at world class luxury resort, Terrace Downs, in the valley of Mount Hutt and will be available to Australian viewers on Thursday August 28 at 4pm AEST. Terrace Downs will be transformed into a one day free music festival featuring back to back performances from local and international acts. The Grates, The Potbelleez, Opshop and Cut Off Your Hands are the first artists to join the bill with more acts to be announced soon.

Ean Thorley, Executive Producer, MTV Networks Australia said “Producing an event like MTV Snow Jam is no small feat. But we love a challenge and creating groundbreaking television content is what we do best. This year’s MTV Snow Jam Special has already generated interest from 27 MTV regions, which means people are watching and they like what they see.”

In addition to the concert, the MTV crew will spend three days filming a range of content for MTV Australia and New Zealand, including action sports on Mount Hutt, artist interviews and behind the scenes footage.

MTV Snow Jam is the only event of its kind held in New Zealand with last year’s event featuring performances from Lupe Fiasco, Savage and Mareko and The Mint Chicks. Over 2,500 fans gathered to watch the artists perform against the backdrop of the spectacular New Zealand landscape.

MTV Snow Jam 2008 is sponsored by Jagermeister, Moosehead and Virgin Blue.

THE MTV SNOW JAM SPECIAL WILL AIR ON MTV AUSTRALIA THURSDAY AUGUST 28 AT 4:00PM AEST
