2007 Wimbledon Championships
Monday, June 25 to Sunday, July 8
Channel Nine will exclusively broadcast the free-to-air coverage of Wimbledon 2007 – the most prestigious event on the tennis calendar – from June 25 through to the men’s singles final on July 8. Ken Sutcliffe will again host Nine’s coverage from London, with expert commentary from Wimbledon greats John Newcombe, Fred Stolle and Mark Woodforde (a trio who won 21 Wimbledon titles) as well as former tennis professional Kerryn Pratt, with feature stories and interviews from Tim Sheridan. This year will be the 121st Wimbledon tournament – and it marks 40 years since “Newc” won the first of his three singles titles in 1967.
Roger Federer, the world number one, is vying for his fifth consecutive Wimbledon title – a feat only achieved once in the last 100 years, by Bjorn Borg. Federer will have strong competition from reigning French Open champion and last year’s Wimbledon finalist Rafael Nadal. Top US seed Andy Roddick and 2002 Wimbledon winner Lleyton Hewitt will also pressure Federer, while rising star Novak Djokovic, although not yet at home on grass, could be the wild card of the tournament.
In the women’s draw, French Open champion Justine Henin is tipped to take out the title – provided she can overcome Maria Sharapova, Serena and Venus Williams, and Amelie Mauresmo, who will be defending her Wimbledon crown from 2006.

I don't miss even the single one as I am the big fan of Roger Federer.

I like to watch mixed doubles rather than the singles.
Well I like the singles matches also but sometimes it feels not much is happening.

I had the chance to attend some of the matches and it was the great experience.I enjoyed it a lot.

Well we don't get to see the live coverage always. So can't say if it's good or bad.

Chris Harvey is absolutely correct with Justine Henin's last name pronunciation. Now all the announcers are pronouncing her last name Henna. I don't know who they talked to get it but it couldn't be more wrong. They might as well pronounce it the English way and they will be closer.

Well, a concert might do for some of us, but for those who understand the true spirit of sports, music can always be enjoyed at home

I suppose tennis is to sports what classical music is to music. Still, I'd rather go to a concert than buying those expensive tennis tickets

It sure was a real show this year, Wimbledon keeps getting better, it provides quality shows for people world wide. I actually had the chance to get tennis tickets and I attended some of the matches as a spectator. Great experience!

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE If Kerryn Pratt cannot pronounce Justine Henin's name (It is not Justine Henna), then she should just pronounce HENIN as she does JUSTINE, i.e. in English.
I do not know the phonetics to demonstrate the correct pronunciation here but I am sure that there are plenty of French speaking people at Wimbledon that she could consult.

9 has poor coverage of Wimbledon. They disrespect the women players barely showing some of their top matches. Oh its all about Lleyton, Lleyton, Lleyton. Why on earth cut to the match between Gonzalez and Tipsarevic when they were half way through showing Safarova and Jankovic in a tough, brilliant showdown !!!! Nobody can get involved in half a match, show the full game!!!! And why? Because we have to listen to the boring, menotonous conversations between Lleyton and John Newcombe. Not good for the game boys. You just like the sound of your own voices. Finally back to a match with less commentary so we can just focus on watching the tennis !!!!
