LIVE COVERAGE!

Features the nation's greatest race, first run in 1861 over two miles at Flemington and today run over almost exactly the same journey.

The horses in 2007 will be covering the same turf as some of Australasia's greatest champions, including Archer, The Barb, Carbine, Poseidon, Phar Lap, Peter Pan, Rising Fast, Galilee, Let's Elope, Saintly, Might And Power and of course, Makybe Diva.

Channel Seven’s coverage will focus on telling the stories of the horses, the jockeys and the characters that create the rich tapestry of racing. We’ll also look at what happens off the track, with coverage of the celebrity, glamour and fashions that define the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

The coverage will be hosted by BRUCE MCAVANEY, RICHARD FREEDMAN and SIMON MARSHALL. PETER DONEGAN will be in the mounting yard, PAT WELSH in the betting ring, dual Melbourne Cup winning jockey JOHN LETTS in the saddle interviewing the winning hoops on course and race calls for Australia’s premier race caller GREG MILES.

Presenters will include JOHANNA GRIGGS, MATTHEW WHITE, SONIA KRUGER, SHELLEY CRAFT, JENNIFER HAWKINS, MONIQUE WRIGHT, MICHAEL FELGATE, SARA GROEN, RICK OLARENSHAW, Adam Hamilton and NEIL KEARNEY.

Master of ceremonies is SANDY ROBERTS, international TV star CARSON KRESSLEY will act as Fashions On The Field commentator and GEOFF “COXY” COX will roam the surrounds of Australia’s greatest race course.

Comments

Congratulations to channel seven for brining to the telecast of the 2007 Melbourne Cup personalities such Richard Freedman for giving his insights into the sport and to Simon Marshall for the fabulous commentary, wonderful sense of humour and delightful racing wit. It made our afternoon of viewing extremely entertaining and we hope that personalities such as these will continue to be invited back in years to come. All age groups in our family (17 - mid 60's) were particularly impressed with Simon Marshall. Congratulations again.

Liz and Georgia Oudeman
